Brazilian esports organization FURIA Esports has engaged its co-owner André Akkari as a coach for Intel Extreme Masters Rio Major 2022, Dust 2 Brasil reports.

47-year-old André Akkari is a Brazilian professional poker player. He is a member of Team PokerStars Pro Brazil and is the winner of the 2011 World Series of Poker $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em event. But he is not a CS:GO pro player or coach.

The reason for this decision is that Furia's head coach Nicholas "guerri" Nogueira is not eligible to stand behind the team at Valve-sponsored events due to his ban for the coaching bug.

guerri hopes that André Akkari will be able to emotionally support the players in difficult moments during the competition by being close to the team.

The Rio Major will run from October 31 to November 13. 24 teams will compete for a prize pool of $1,250,000.
