They did it, FaZe is the new winner of Halo World Championship. After a strong campaign in 2022 that placed the team in fourth place in the championship, the team returned to Seattle and this time secured the title against the reigning champions OpTic.
The American city of Seattle will not soon leave the memories of FaZe Clan fans, who not only lifted a unique trophy for the organization but also earned a prize pool of $400,000 USD in the championship.
Group stage
The sixteen teams were divided into four groups of four teams, facing each other. Without any victories, Divine Mind, Cloud9, Ascending Baseline and LVT left the competition without competing in the playoffs. The teams that finished third in the group moved to the lower bracket, while the first two went directly to the upper bracket.
Playoffs
Interestingly, three of the four teams that finished third in their respective groups said goodbye to the competition in the first round of the lower bracket. In the semi-finals, OpTic and FaZe Clan played one of the most interesting games of the competition. OpTic got the win, but FaZe still beat OpTic on Strongholds and Oddball.
For a spot in the final and a repeat of the Fort Worth Major final, Spacestation and OpTic faced off again.
On the other hand, the lower bracket narrowed with Sentinels and FaZe Clan being the survivors for Sunday, the last day of the tournament.
And with an inspired performance from the team, FaZe rises from the ashes and turns the tables. Despite a lopsided score against Sentinels and Spacestation, the team faced significant challenges in those matches, but it prepared them for the day’s ultimate challenge: defeating OpTic. In a beautiful final, FaZe secures their first title in Halo’s biggest competition, etching their name in history.
