What We Know About Kingdom Come 2

Judging by the leaked video, the game's main character will be Henry again. The interesting point is that the sequel will retain the subtitle Deliverance, contrary to the assumptions. Also, the excerpt showed something that will please fans of the game—the release date of Kingdom Come 2: Deliverance is scheduled for 2024.

Although Warhorse Studios officially announced the game on April 18 and unveiled a 13-minute trailer, the exact date of the game remains to be determined.

Deliverance 2 will be friendly to newcomers who still need to play the first installment. Some mechanics will be simplified to make them easier to understand, but the game will not be casual.

What Was In The First Part

The first Kingdom Come: Deliverance was released in 2018. The game became famous for its realistic depiction of the Middle Ages and hardcore gameplay. On Steam, the title has over 90,000 reviews, 82% of which are positive.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an action RPG set in an open world and played in first-person perspective. It uses a classless role-playing system that allows players to customize their skills to take on roles such as warrior, bard, thief, or hybrid.

Kingdom Come is not about the fate of humanity, not about a great war of good against evil or a local conflict between a few minor Czech feudal lords and overestimated brigands.

The story takes place during the Bohemian War in 1403, during the time of King Wenceslaus IV. On the orders of Hungarian King Sigismund, Wenceslas' half-brother, Cuman mercenaries raid the mining village of Skalitz, the primary source of silver.

One of the survivors of the attack is Henry, the blacksmith's son. He enters the service of Lord Radzig Kobyla, who leads a resistance movement against Sigismund. The protagonist is obsessed with recovering his father's sword, which Henry lost in battle, and thus becomes involved in an attempt to restore the rightful king of Bohemia to the throne.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance's key strength is believability. The game focuses on realism more than other modern open-world RPGs. Characters in Kingdom Come react to almost any action of the hero. For example, if Henry starts running around some NPC, the latter will get nervous and ask him to stop.

The time of day is not an empty formality: in the evening, most characters, including merchants and artisans, go home, and bandits gather on the roadsides. Bad weather and walking through mud-stained clothes ruin the protagonist's appearance and diminish the confidence of those around him. Consequently, many characters in the dialog may not agree or tell you what you came for.

When talking to someone, it's essential to be consistent. All characters notice inconsistencies, so poking at everything in a row just won't work.

Quests are another strong point of Kingdom Come. Each quest can be completed in several ways depending on the character's skills. For example, when investigating a crime, you can go to the local clerk or try to talk to the priest who knows who committed the crime you are interested in.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance's combat system feels honest: you can be sure it doesn't have a tricky system of automatically leveling up your enemies.

Defeating an enemy in Kingdom Come feels like a real victory - you won it, not your rare weapon or some perception-manipulating system.

At the time of the game's release, journalists mainly criticized Warhorse Studios' creation for technical flaws.

If you are lucky, you can spend the first ten hours in Kingdom Come without encountering severe technical problems, but sooner or later, you will encounter bugs more and more often. They can be very different: for example, the AI of enemies will suddenly turn off, allowing the hero to kill robbers with impunity in front of their companions. Or a vital plot video will simply refuse to play, and the player must read subtitles on a black background.

"If you fix a ton of bugs and drastically improve performance, Kingdom Come couldbe called an uncut diamond," wrote journalist TheSixthAxis, who gave the game only 4 out of 10 points.

However, just a few days after its release, Kingdom Come: Deliverance became one of the most discussed novelties in the CIS countries, generating many jokes and memes.

The original Kingdom Come: Deliverance was released in 2018 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. This March, it became available on Nintendo Switch as well. The medieval role-playing game's total circulation exceeded 6 million copies.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II will be the final installment of Henry of Scalica's story. However, no one has specified whether Warhorse Studios has plans for a third installment with a new protagonist. We can only wait.
