The Hulk is one of the most successful and popular characters in Marvel history, only coming second to Spider-Man. Naturally, he’s in Marvel Rivals as well, strengthening the roster of Vanguards in NetEase’s new Hero Shooter. Capable of turning into the Worldbreaker – but also reverting back to Dr. Bruce Banner – Hulk is a unique hero who can fill the role of diver tank in any roster. In this guide, we’ll go over his abilities and team-ups and give you some tips on playing the Jade Giant.

    Marvel Rivals Hulk Abilities

Hulk has a unique passive that lets him transform into three forms: Bruce Banner, Hero Hulk, and Monster Hulk. Each form has a unique skillset, and Hulk has to use his ultimate to transform.

Marvel Rivals Hulk Abilities – Bruce Banner

Normal Attack – Gamma Ray Gun

In his Bruce Banner form, the Normal Attack is shooting with the scientist’s gun. The projectiles have travel time but deal okay damage and charge Hulk’s Ultimate.

Marvel Rivals Hulk Bruce Banner Normal Attack

    First Ability – Gamma Grenade

Bruce throws a grenade that deals damage and knocks enemies up. If he’s also in the blast zone, he gets blown away as well, and the gamma radiation in the grenade charges his Ultimate.

    Marvel Rivals Hulk

    Ultimate – Puny Banner

This ability lets Bruce Banner turn into Hero Hulk, the enhanced version of the Jade Giant, who is insanely strong but also intelligent. Bruce Banner always starts matches with his Ultimate, so you can turn green right away. During the transformation, Hulk can’t act.

    Marvel Rivals Hulk

Marvel Rivals Hulk Abilities – Hero Hulk

    Passive – Incredible Leap

When pressing the Space bar for an extended amount of time, Hulk charges a giant jump that can cover a lot of ground. If he hits a wall, he also sticks to it – but if he collides with an enemy in the air, he brings them down with himself, smashing them into the ground.

    Marvel Rivals Hulk

    Normal Attack – Heavy Blow

Hulk’s basic attack is iconic for the character, as with it he just smashes enemies in front of him, dealing damage. Heavy Blow hits in an arc, so if you position yourself right, you can hit multiple enemies at once.

    Marvel Rivals Hulk

    First Ability – Indestructible Guard

Hulk gains a shield of gamma energy while also giving it out to allies around himself. The damage dealt to anyone charges him with gamma, granting him extra progress on his Ultimate.

    Marvel Rivals Hulk

    Second Ability – Radioactive Lockdown

The Green Giant emits a radioactive projectile that stops with the first enemy hit. If it connects, the ability paralyzes the opponent, making them unable to move but also stopping ability effects from taking place. If Hulk hits them with another ability or Heavy Blow, the stun ends.

    Marvel Rivals Hulk

    Third Ability – Gamma Burst

Hulk claps his hands, dealing damage to enemies in an arc in front of him. This ability can pierce enemies, inflicting damage to more targets than the initial one. It also ends the immobilizing effect of Radioactive Lockdown.

    Marvel Rivals Hulk

    Ultimate – HULK SMASH!

Hulk turns into his worldbreaker form, becoming Monster Hulk. During his Monster form, he gains a huge pool of health, enhanced abilities and normal attacks, a new Ultimate – but loses Indestructible Guard.

    Marvel Rivals Hulk

Marvel Rivals Hulk Abilities – Monster Hulk

    Normal Attack – Heavy Blow

Monster Hulks normal attacks are slower than Hero Hulks, but they deal more damage in a bigger area while also knocking back and knocking up enemies.

    Marvel Rivals Hulk

    First Ability – Radioactive Lockdown

During his rampage, Monster Hulk’s lockdown has a faster projectile speed and a lower cooldown. While hitting the stunned enemy with a basic attack or another ability still ends the effect early, you can reapply it or just hit multiple enemies during the Ultimate.

    Marvel Rivals Hulk

    Second Ability – Gamma Burst

Monster Hulk can also cast Gamma Burst more frequently while he’s fully enraged. However, his main ranged tool also becomes slower – but can hit more enemies, deals double damage, and because of the lowered cooldown during HULK SMASH!, it’s not that hard to land your shots.

    Marvel Rivals Hulk

    Ultimate – Worldbreaker

In this form, Hulk gains access to yet another Ultimate ability which is a double callback. First, it’s name is one of the strongest versions of the Jade Giant. Second, during it’s activation, Hulk grabs an enemy and smashes them around, making them feel like Loki from the first Avengers movie. During the cast, the enemy can’t act and Monster Hulk takes reduced damage.

    Marvel Rivals Hulk

    Marvel Rivals Hulk Team-Ups

Hulk is unique in Marvel Rivals as he has two Team-Ups instead of one. First, he can work together with Wolverine to perform Gamma Fastball, which lets him throw Logan as seen in the comics. This allows Wolverine to close the distance to his targets, and as he’s a 100% melee hero, this Team-Up is more useful than it first seems.

    Marvel Rivals Hulk

The second Team-Up Hulk has is with Doctor Strange and Iron Man, and it’s one of the best teamwork abilities in Marvel Rivals. While the Hulk only gets 150 bonus Health when picked alongside Stark or Strange, both of them get gamma-enhanced abilities thanks to Gamma Boost.

    Marvel Rivals Hulk TeamUp

Doctor Strange doesn’t suffer from the Anti-Heal debuff when he overloads on dark magic due to the Price of Magic, and he gains extra damage for Maelstrom of Madness. Iron Man gets an upgrade to Armor Overdrive, gaining extra gamma damage.

Marvel Rivals Hulk How to Play

Hulk is a very versatile hero in Marvel Rivals. He is fairly mobile, thanks to Incredible Leap, so he can get into the fray and wreak havoc in the backline. However, thanks to Indestructible Guard and the fact that he basically has two Health bars, he is one of the tankiest heroes in the game. When Hulk runs out of HP, he turns back into Bruce Banner instead of dying, and Banner’s Ultimate has the lowest energy cost in the game, so he goes green again very quickly.

Bruce Banner always starts each round with his Ultimate readily available, but that doesn’t mean you should always turn into Hulk at the beginning of the match. If you’re defending the payload or have a capture map, launch yourself with Gamma Grenade and then turn into the Jade Giant before running into enemies.

While Hulk is a melee hero, he can chase down running enemies with Radioactive Lockdown and Gamma Burst. The former ability can also stop enemies from capturing the point or the payload, as when they are immobilized, the meter won’t fill up.

While the Hulk has high health – especially when he has his Team-Up turned on with Doctor Strange and Iron Man – he’s also an easy target due to his size, even more so when in his Monster Hulk form. Don’t detach from your team as your Strategist teammates are the key to surviving longer.

As Indestructible Guard grants Hulk Ultimate charge, he is also dependent on his teammates for optimal play. Use his shield when you and other close-range heroes are under attack to charge your biggest transformation faster!

The Hulk is quickly becoming one of the most popular tanks in Marvel Rivals. Due to his good Team-Ups, his versatile kit, and the fact that opponents need to take him down multiple times to get him out for good, he is a valuable asset to any team – and its worth to learn playing him!
