Nintendo explained that Switch 2 will feature three categories of games:

    • Exclusive projects are available only for the new platform.
    • Games for the original Switch that support backward compatibility.
    • Re-releases labeled “Nintendo Switch 2 dition,” enhanced versions of titles from the first Switch.

    Mario Kart World

Mario Kart World – Nintendo Direct

The first officially confirmed game for Switch 2 is a new installment of the legendary Mario Kart racing series. Mario Kart World looks impressive, offering various vehicles, unique power-ups that change racers, and mechanics such as sliding on rails and running on walls.

The game features a classic Grand Prix, a Knockout-inspired Battle Royale mode, and Free Roam, which allows you to explore the game world freely. More details will be revealed on April 17. The game is confirmed to be a launch title for Nintendo’s new console.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild/ The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The re-releases include increased resolution, frame rate, and HDR support. In addition, the Nintendo Switch App will feature a new Zelda Notes section on the mobile app, which includes additional gameplay mechanics like navigating the map and scanning buildings. This section can then be shared with friends.

    Donkey Kong Bananza

Donkey Kong Bananza – Nintendo Direct

Donkey Kong Bananza is a new platformer with a cult character in the leading role. In it, Donkey Kong can destroy obstacles, clearing the way and opening new routes. The character received an updated appearance for the first time in a long time—now he wears pants and suspenders.

Donkey Kong Bananza will be released exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2. The game is scheduled for release on July 17, 2025, and will cost $70.

    Kirby Air Riders

Kirby Air Riders – Nintendo Direct

The next installment in the Kirby Air Ride racing series, first released over twenty years ago, will be released in 2025. The cinematic trailer showed off colorful Kirbys and new space vehicles, but no gameplay has been shown yet.

    Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

Metroid Prime 4 Beyond – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Trailer

On Switch 2, the game will support an alternate control scheme using a makeshift mouse with a joy-con, making shootouts more convenient. The title will also work in “quality” and “performance” modes.

    Drag x Drive

Drag x Drive – Nintendo Direct

Improvised basketball with robots in wheelchairs. Gamers must use both joycons in computer mouse mode to control the characters. The game is scheduled for release this summer, but there is no exact date.

    Hades II

    Hades 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Trailer

It won’t be long before the sequel to Supergiant Games’ stylish roguelike leaves Early Access for an entire release. In this regard, the developers have announced that the game should also be expected on Nintendo Switch 2. There is no exact date yet.

    Hyrule Warriors

    Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment

Nintendo has teamed up with Koei Tecmo for a new game in the Hyrule Warriors series. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment will tell the story of the massive war that preceded the events of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The project is scheduled for release in the winter of 2025 and will be exclusive to Switch 2.

We’ll also leave you a video of the entire presentation below.

    GameShare: a Collaborative Game Experience

Nintendo recently expanded its digital game-sharing options and is taking them further by introducing the GameShare feature.

This option will allow users to play local multiplayer modes, even if only one of the participants has the game installed. A similar mechanism has been used in some projects for the Nintendo DS. However, it is worth considering that GameShare will not be supported in all games.

    Console Details

Nintendo has revealed why the Switch 2 has a C button on the right Joy-Con controller. It’s for the GameChat feature, which allows players to communicate while playing together and in different games.

With GameChat, players can show each other what’s happening on screen by launching a broadcast. The feature will require a subscription to Nintendo Switch Online.

Nintendo has unveiled a $65 camera for Switch 2 that can stream captured images directly to cooperative games.

The $80 Pro Controller for Nintendo Switch 2 features a C button, rear petals, and an audio jack.

Nintendo Switch 2 will start selling on June 5, priced at $450 in the US. A bundle that includes the console and Mario Kart World will cost $500.

    Nintendo Switch 2 Specifications

    • Display: 7.9-inch LCD with HDR support
    • Body thickness: 13.9 mm
    • Portable resolution and fps: up to 1080p and 120 fps
    • Dock resolution and fps: up to 4K and 60 fps
    • Built-in memory: 256 GB
    • Controllers: magnetic Joy-Con 2 with mouse mode
    • Miscellaneous: 3D sound support, improved speakers

Switch 2’s screen has about twice as many pixels, which allows gamers to enjoy their favorite games at an increased 1080p resolution. At the same time, performance has increased to 120 frames per second.

Joycons are connected to the console with powerful magnets that prevent them from accidentally falling out. To easily remove the joy-cons, gamers must press a special button on the back.

The SL and SR buttons have grown larger to increase convenience when using the joy-con as a gamepad in a horizontal position. The sticks have also grown in size. In addition, each joy-con can be used as a computer mouse in supported games.

Switch 2’s internal storage has grown 8 times larger than the original console’s. Gamers can now store up to 256GB of data instead of 32 GB, and data read speeds have also increased.

The cartridges for Switch 2 are the same size as on the first Switch, but they feature a red color and increased data reading speed.

    Conclusion

That’s all the information from this past presentation. We leave you to digest this amount of information. As the games are released, look forward to reviews of the most significant ones.
