Insider Dataminer blogger Tyler McVicker continues to track Valve’s actions. Recently, he released another material dedicated to Half-Life 3.
As he claims, there are signs in the files of every major update of Valve games that the Half-Life 3 developer is coming. While these are only “signs”, they have become so numerous lately that they can no longer be ignored.
The main thing the dataminer was able to uncover:
- Advanced simulation systems like fire points and melting of various materials.
- The jump distance parameter is related to alien creatures.
- A methodology of shared game environments to give gamers the impression of a seamless world.
- NPC behavior system, such as skirmishes between different types of creatures.
- Physics simulation parameters: NPC rotation speed and item movement.
- AI behaviors, like warning allies of danger or the need to eat.
- Mention the build files for the canceled Arty game. Valve worked on it after the closure of Left 4 Dead 3. McVicker said its main feature was an elaborate voxel-based procedurally destructible world.
- A shotgun sound was added to the core Source engine, which the blogger believes indicates weapons testing for Half-Life 3.
Tyler McVicker believes that Valve wants to make the next installment of the Half-Life series “physically believable.” According to him, the company is testing many different independent simulation mechanics.
In September, the first details about Half-Life 3 were published by an insider under the nickname Gabe Follower, who claims that Valve started working on the HLX project as a VR game before deciding to make it initially an all-PC game.
