Details About Ghost of Yotei that are Known
Ghost of Yotei Game Plot
The trailer reveals the plot: the protagonist, Atsu, will take revenge. She will have to find the six bandits who killed her family and left her for dead. In a post on the PlayStation blog, the senior communications manager also described the game’s plot:
Sixteen years ago in the heart of Ezo (called Hokkaido in present day), a gang of outlaws known as the Yōtei Six took everything from Atsu. They killed her family and left her for dead, pinned to a burning ginkgo tree outside her home. But Atsu survived. She learned to fight, to kill, and to hunt, and after years away she has returned to her home with a list of six names: The Snake, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and Lord Saito.
Ghost of Yōtei will take players 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima to 1603, the Edo period in Japan. The action will occur in the Ezo region (now known as Hokkaido), around Mount Yōtei, a real-life volcano resembling Mount Fuji. At the time, the area was outside the control of central Japan, making it a wild and uncharted land.
Notably, the video shows both cinematic splash screens and direct gameplay. Judging from the trailer, the game will feature playable flashbacks that show Atsu as a child.
Developers at Sucker Punch have kept one of the key ideas of Ghost of Tsushima, with an abundance of beautiful landscapes in an open world that can be explored on horseback. The landscape promises to be diverse: vast grassy plains, snowy tundras, dense forests, and rugged mountain peaks.
