PARIVISION’s Success
Those of you who’ve read our ESL One Bangkok 2024 overview, remember that we said PARIVISION was one of the teams that deserved attention. It seems like we were right because Volodymyr “No[o]ne-” Minenko and the rest ripped through their competitors.
PARIVISION was in Group B, where it had to play against some of the other favorites. What’s impressive about the squad’s performance is that it finished first in the group and only lost one map. The team got a draw against BetBoom Team and defeated everyone else, including Team Liquid.
Following the impressive performance in the group, PARIVISION faced AVULUS in the Upper Bracket Semifinals. This clash was definitely more interesting than we thought, but in the end, No[o]ne and co. defeated their opponents. This meant it was time for a rematch between them and BetBoom Team.
The UB Final was as intense as the first clash between the two. After exchanging one game, the deciding map went in favor of PARIVISION after drafting around Gyrocopter.
As for the Grand Final, PARIVISION was on another level once again and defeated Team Liquid for the 2nd time at ESL One Bangkok 2024. Although the WEU squad won the first map, PARIVISION bounced back in the 2nd and third maps. The 4th game was the most one-sided yet because the team from Eastern Europe dominated from the beginning and won after just 26 minutes.
Team Liquid’s Journey
The second team to make it to the ESL One Bangkok 2024 final was Team Liquid. Unlike PARIVISION, however, this squad’s journey was not easy.
Liquid was in the same group as their opponents in the final, but the team failed to impress with its performance. Consequently, TL finished 4th in Group B.
After advancing to the Playoffs, the team was in the Lower Bracket. It defeated Shopify Rebellion, Team Falcons, Team Spirit, and BetBoom Team before reaching the big final. Each series was epic because every single opponent of Team Liquid was one of the favorites to win the competition.
ESL One Bangkok 2024 Meta Analaysis
If we take a look at the meta during this amazing Dota 2 tournament, we can see some very interesting results. Some stats definitely shocked us, especially after analyzing the least successful Dota 2 heroes in 2024. With that said, let’s take a look at the top picks, bans, and the most successful heroes.
The most picked heroes
If you take a look at some of the most picked Dota 2 heroes at ESL One Bangkok 2024, you can see that Batrider is the first name on the list. With a total of 35 appearances, he became the event MVP. What’s even more impressive about Batrider is that his win rate is over 62%, which also makes him one of the most successful options.
Another hero who appeared a lot more than we thought was Magnus. Similar to Batrider, his win rate is also more or less around 63%, which makes him an excellent option. Magnus is among the best initiators in the game and works exceptionally well against melee cores, so he was picked in 30 matches.
Phoenix is another name that shined throughout the event. He has always been one of the options that has fans among professional players, so it’s not surprising that he is back in the meta. Unlike the first two options, however, this hero only got around a 50% win rate.
The most banned heroes
If we check the stats for the most banned heroes at ESL One Bangkok 2024, we can see that Alchemist leads the chart. With a total of 81 bans, he was the hero that no one wanted to play against. We did end up seeing him in action in 7 games, and he got a 57% win rate.
The number 2 option on the list in terms of bans is for Dragon Knight. With 79 bans in total, DK sneaked into 8 games and won 6 of them. Considering the current meta, he is definitely one of the mid laners that people do not want to play against.
What surprised us a lot is the third option on the list in terms of bans. This honor goes to Chen, a hero that we definitely didn’t expect to be so important in the meta. Professional Dota 2 players seem to know how to use him, though, because he got an 80% win rate after appearing in 5 matches.
Interestingly, Monkey King was also banned in 61 matches, but he was picked in 23. Sadly, the hero’s win rate was just 43%.
The most successful heroes
There are a lot of heroes at ESL One Bangkok 2024 that have high win rates, but they only appeared in a couple of matches. Consequently, we’ll only focus on names that had the chance to play in 10+ games.
We’d like to start with Lich, a support that doesn’t always get the attention he deserves. Lich seems to work well in the professional Dota 2 meta right now because he achieved a 71% win rate in 14 games.
Sniper is another hero that stood out because he got a 73% win rate in 11 games. The same is true for Primal Beast, a hero with a 62.50% win rate in 16 games.
The last hero that we believe has to be on the list is Invoker. The magician took part in 21 games in total and got more than a 66% win rate in all of them, surpassing a lot of popular midders.
The least successful heroes
In terms of the least successful Dota 2 heroes at this tournament, we need to start with Mars. Once one of the best offlaners, the hero appeared in 14 matches and only won 4 of them.
Another name that did not perform as well as expected was Pangolier. With just 3 victories in 10 games, the hero is clearly not in his best state. The same is true for Doom because he achieved the same stats as Pango.
