Fortnite Shohei Ohtani Release Date
The Los Angeles Dodgers star will appear in the Fortnite store starting March 17 at 8 p.m. ET. In addition to cosmetic items, players can participate in Shohei Ohtani’s new quests to earn additional experience, which will be available starting March 18, 2025.
Shohei Otani will receive two different outfits from the Icon series. The first skin features him in a Los Angeles Dodgers uniform with the number 17 and will also include additional styles, such as home and away versions.
You will see the baseball star in a samurai suit in the second skin. This version of the skin is reactive, and according to Epic, it will have some fiery effect on the pitching arm when you get elims in the game.
As usual, all these skins will include LEGO variants and additional cosmetics. Here’s a list of everything included:
Dodgers uniform Shohei Ohtani
- Shohei Ohtani Outfit
- Decoy Back Bling
- Trusty Two-Way Pickaxe
Samurai Shohei Ohtani
- Samurai Shohei Outfit
- Samurai Screamer Back Bling
- Baseball Batana Pickaxe
How to Get Samurai Shohei’s Costume Earlier
Those who can’t wait to get their hands on the new Samurai Shohei skin are in luck, as Epic is offering those competing in the Shohei Ohtani Cup on March 15, 2025, a chance to get the skin.
Players can get the skin early, for free, before it hits the item store by ranking among the higher ranks in the tournament according to their region. The tournament will be in Solos format, with a points system.
You get 2 points for each elims, but your place in the match also affects the amount of points you score. If you are the last surviving player, you get a whopping 60 points.
Shohei Ohtani Quests
To celebrate Shohei’s Icon Series debut, the Week 4 Quests in Battle Royale will be all about baseball and Shohei’s historic 50/50 season! These Quests will drop March 18 Eastern Time and last until Chapter 6, Season 2 ends:
- Finish three matches in the Top 17.
- Eliminate three players beyond 50 meters.
- Throw 17 items.
- Deal 54 damage to opponents with The Kneecapper.
- Travel 59 units of distance while sliding continuously.
Each Quest awards XP, helping you level up in the Battle Pass and any other Pass you may own!
Conclusion
While the appearance of a famous baseball player won’t significantly impact Fortnite’s competitive meta, it could signal that more sports-related weapons are on the horizon. The Knee Bat is a unique baseball bat added at the beginning of Chapter 6: Season 2, so Epic Games targets the world of sports.
