Twitch to ban illegal casino streams

Streaming service Twitch has decided to tighten its gambling policy in response to a strong community reaction against casino streams on the platform.

“We’ll be making a policy update on October 18th to prohibit streaming of gambling sites that include slots, roulette, or dice games that aren’t licensed either in the U.S. or other jurisdictions that provide sufficient consumer protection. These sites will include Stake.com, Rollbit.com, Duelbits.com, and Roobet.com. However, we may identify others as we move forward,” the company noted on Twitter.

However, Twitch continues to allow websites that focus on sports betting, fantasy sports and poker.

Tightening the screws is a reaction to the scandal surrounding a Twitch streamer Sliker.

For two years, he deceived the audience by asking them to borrow money, but in the end didn’™t return them. He lost his savings and got into debt. When this story went public, popular streamers Imane “Pokimane” Anys and Matthew “Mizkif” Rinaudo launched a Christmas strike initiative in response to Twitch’™s inaction on casino broadcasts.
