The Esports World Cup became one of the most important tournaments for gamers from all over the world. The 2024 version was epic, and it seems like the 2025 one will be as interesting. Players were wondering whether Riot will join the show, but we finally have our answers.

Riot Games Granted the Esports World Cup 2025 a License for League of Legends, VALORANT, and Teamfight Tactics

Riot Games made a big announcement that the company is granting the EWC a license for its top-tier games. League of Legends, TFT, and VALORANT will be present at the biggest Esports event in the world.

Following the deal, Riot said there would be “limited ads for the EWC, as well as an esports tournament included in Riyadh Season later this year”.

According to Riot, the company decided to participate in last year’s tournament to evaluate the experience. The feedback seems to have been positive, so the team behind League is back again. Riot explained in their statement how the EWC was a good event because of the financial support for the different organizations. Moreover, the tournament allowed players in MENA to see some of the best Esports stars in the world in person.

Alongside League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics (both of which were present at this competition last year), Riot is also adding VALORANT. The decision came following the demand from both players and teams to add the game to big international events. Riot’s decision will create more opportunities for players across all of its games to compete on the big stage.

    The future of Esports

Interestingly, Riot said that the org will try to keep being open to more third-party tournaments taking place around the world. What’s more, the company will be promoting them so that fans do not miss out on the action. Riot’s statement continues by explaining how it’s important to invest in the Esports space and their vision for the future.

    Conclusion

All in all, this decision is good news for all League of Legends, TFT and VALORANT fans out there. The fact that the 3 games will be present at the EWC means that fans will see the best players in the world.

We do not know the exact dates yet for the tournament itself. It seems like it will begin in July and end in August, but we are yet to see if the organizers will change anything. Don’t forget to follow us for more information.
