Gen.G’s legendary midlaner Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon won the Player of the Year award at the Game Awards 2025. The event took place on December 12 and it’s safe to say that Chovy deserved it.
Chovy Won the Player of the Year Award at The Game Awards 2025
Chovy had to fight against several other names across different esports titles to win the award at The Game Awards 2025. Beside him, people could vote for the following names:
- Brock “brawk” Somerhalder
- Forsaken
- Kakeru “Kakeru” Watanabe
- Saul “MenaRD” Leonardo
- Matheu “ZywOo” Herbaut
While some people expected ZywOo to be the one who would grab the prize, Chovy was on another level. He and Gen.G enjoyed a pretty solid 20205 after winning a lot of big League of Legends tournaments. All of Gen.G’s players played well, but most people would agree that Chovy was one of the primary reasons for the team’s success.
Gen.G finished second at the LCK Cup 2025, won the Mid-Season Invitational 2025, as well as the Esports World Cup 2025. The squad even won the LCK 2025 championship but failed to lift the trophy at Worlds 2025. The latter went in favor of T1.
In terms of Chovy’s individual performance, he won the LCK 2025 MVP and MSI 2025 Finals MVP. In other words, he shone where it mattered the most.
