Just a few days after the beginning of the League of Legends Esports World Cup 2025, we finally have our winner. As many people expected, Gen.G continues its dominance after securing a win at the MSI 2025. The event was epic to watch, and we have already covered everything up to the quarterfinals, so let’s take a look at everything that happened after that.
Semifinals
Honestly, the semifinals were much more intriguing than most people expected. Starting with the first match. Gen.G Esports defeated G2 Esports in a match that was way closer than Lol fans anticipated. Considering Gen.G’s results so far, people expected the Koreans to have little to no problems against G2 Esports. This was the case in Game 1, but the EU team bounced back in Game 2 and equalised the series. This resulted in a Game 3, where Gen.G got the lead and eliminated their opponents.
As for the second match, AG.AL surprised everyone by defeating T1. After losing the MSI Grand Final, most LoL experts thought that Faker and the rest would do everything possible to win yet another EWC after the 2024 success. Sadly, it seems like the squad lacked the needed motivation.
AG.AL was clearly on another level in this series and outplayed its opponents in both games. The first was a walk in the park, whereas the second was a bit closer, but in the end, AG.AL deserved it.
Third Place Match – G2 Esports vs T1
After losing their Semifinals, G2 Esports and T1 had to face each other for the 3rd place match. The series was interesting because G2 already exceeded expectations, so everyone was eager to see if the team could win against T1. Sadly for the EU fans, the Koreans did not allow them to do that.
Both games lasted 27 minutes each, as T1 did not allow their opponents to do anything. Despite losing the match, G2 Esports proved once again that the European region is not dead, contrary to what some people may think.
Grand Final Gen.G vs AG.AL
It was finally time for the epic LoL EWC 2025 Grand Final between Gen.G Esports and AG.Al. Even though it was not the MSI 2025 rematch that League of Legends fans hoped for, the clash was definitely worth watching.
As expected, Gen.G was the better team and secured a relatively easy victory in Game 1. The team needed just 30 minutes to win and went into game two with a high level of confidence. Speaking of Game 2, Gen.G once again outplayed their opponents and didn’t give them any chances of winning. The team secured an early lead and got itself a two-game lead.
Just when people expected the series to be over, AG.AL rose from the ashes. The Chinese/Korean squad bounced back after winning two games in a row and pushed the series into a game 5.
Sadly, the AL was unable to capitalize on its two-game streak. Gen.G was on another level in Game 5 and completely destroyed their opponents, securing themselves the trophy. This was the 26th consecutive victory (in terms of series), making them the best in the world.
The LoL Esports World Cup 2025 was definitely an amazing event to watch, but now it’s time for the teams to focus on the next big events. Don’t forget to follow Blix.gg for more details.
