The Mid-Season Invitational (also called MSI) is the second cross-regional event of the annual LoL Esports schedule. It is one of the key tournaments of the year because it allows some of the best teams in the world to come together. There’s much to discuss here, so let’s dive into our LoL MSI review.

LoL MSI Overview – Schedule & Format
Since MSI is one of the key LoL tournaments, it’s no surprise that Riot Games is behind it. This year’s tournament will take place in Vancouver, Canada, and players wishing to watch the matches must attend the Pacific Coliseum.
Like all other big LoL events, this one has many sponsors. These include brands like HyperX, Coinbase, OPPO, OMEN, and more.
The 2025 League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational offers more than just another clash between top-tier LoL teams. The competition will feature two stages:
- Play-In Stage
- Bracket Stage
The Play-in Stage will last three days (June 27-29), whereas the Bracket Stage will begin on July 1 and end on July 12. The official lol esports page has more information about the exact hours when the matches will take place.
In terms of the format, the Bracket Stage teams will play against each other based on draw tiers. An interesting fact is that teams from the same region will be placed on opposite sides of the bracket as follows:
- Tier 1 – LCK1 & LEC1
- Tier 2 – LPL1 & LCP1
- Tier 3 – LCK2 & LTA1
- Tier 4 – Play-Ins Teams
These constraints automatically determine several matchups, significantly narrowing the range of possible draw outcomes. Of the six potential combinations of teams advancing from Play-Ins, four result in finalized brackets without requiring a draw. The remaining two will need only one placement decision to complete the bracket.
LoL MSI 2025 Drops
Like some other big LoL events, we can access MSI Drops. This year’s competition will offer 5 new emotes themed around the Spirit Blossom. Alongside that, LoL fans will also have access to 2025 Esports Capsules that will drop when there is a Baron/Atakhan/Dragon steal, Pentakill, or Silver Scapes moment.
An interesting fact is that Coinbase will also join the action and offer special Hextech Chests with keys. These chests will also let people compete in Sweepstakes to win tickets to Worlds 2025.
As for the emotes, here is what you can expect:
- I Didn’t Start The Fire (Opening Day)
- Casual Flex (Start of the Bracket Stage)
- Always Hip (Upper Bracket Finals)
- ONWARD! (Final Day of the Bracket Stage)
