Following the most recent announcement from Riot Games, we will have access to the League of Legends Game Changes. This is the official EMEA women’s LoL competition, so let’s learn more about it.
League of Legends Game Changers Rising – Everything You Need to Know
According to Riot Games, the LGC Rising will be the inaugural event and the “first step in building a meaningful competitive ecosystem” for female LoL players in the specific region. Riot decided to make this move following the successful initiative in VALORANT. The league will kick off in August and will have a Grand Final that will take place in Paris this October.
It seems like Riot has been considering this option for a while now. People who’ve followed the company remember that it hinted it could do something like this in January after being inspired by VALORANT’s Game Changers format.
An interesting fact is that the LEC organizations also support the LGC initiative. They will support the scene “every step of the way,” which means that we may see the big organizations pick up their own LGC rosters. Only time will tell if this will be the case.
What do we Know About the LGC 2025?
LGC Rising will start with online qualifiers in August and end with the final in October. People interested in following this event must attend the Paris Games Week on October 30.
Like the VCT Game Changers, participants in this competition must identify as women. The event will have eight teams, three of which will receive a direct invitation because they already have a women’s roster. Three other teams will qualify via the Equal Esports Cup, whereas the other two will be chosen from an Open Qualifier in August.
The teams that play at the event will take part in two round-robin groups with four teams each. The matches will be in Bo1, and the top 3 squads from each group will advance to the Playoffs. LoL fans will watch a double-elimination playoff bracket with Bo5 clashes and a Bo5 Grand Final.
We have a lot of time until this event, so make sure to watch the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational before that. Also, remember to follow us for more details.
