Riot Games will revamp Swiftplay for the 2026 League of Legends season in an attempt to create a faster and more exhilarating experience for players. The game’s lead designer said that these changes came following players’ feedback about what needs to be improved.

League of Legends 2026 Swiftplay Changes
Based on the information we have, the 2026 LoL update will introduce loads of new things. Their goal will be to improve the overall game dynamics and make things more efficient. This news comes just a few days following the LoL Patch 25.24 and the changes it introduced.
For starters, League of Legends will be removing specific objectives from the game, such as Atakhan, Void Grubs, Rift Herald and the Feats of Strength. We will also have a lower number of Dragons (2 in total). What’s more, players wishing to unlock “Dragon Soul” will have to secure both dragons.
Baron will now appear at the 12th minute mark, and the Elder Dragon will be available after 15 minutes of play. Sudden Death will become available at the 25th minute (it was after the 30th minute before), and the Baron buffs you get will no longer vanish once it is dead. This means it will maintain its presence throughout the match.
The Laning Changes & Jungle Gameplay
What surprised a lot of League of Legends fans is that players will now start the game at level 3. What’s more, they will have a 1400 gold buff that will give them a better start.
The cannon minions will now spawn in every wage starting from the third one, and there will also be new Guardian starter items. Riot also decided to introduce Minion Frenzy, a new mechanic that will give minions extra MS, AS and damage after an enemy champion has fallen. This should increase the overall snowball and pushing capabilities.
In terms of the jungle role, people will also start at level 3 with the 1400 gold advantage. From what we’ve seen, the jungle camp respawn times will be decreased, and the so-called “pet upgrades” will not require as many treats. The idea behind these changes is to “ease the competitive pressures” that these people have to go through.
