The French League of Legends League (Ligue Francaise de League of Legends – LFL) finally released more information about what we can expect. France has some interesting LoL teams, so here is everything you need to know.
LFL Format & Events
The LFL will begin with the Winter Invitational, the first tournament, which will take place on January 21. We will see a total of 20 teams and they will compete for two EMEA Masters sports, as well as the chance to join the LFL’s regular season. Aside from that, we will also see the Spring and Summer Split.
As mentioned, the LFL Invitational will have a total of 20 teams and they will be in five groups. Each one of these groups will have teams from the LFL, Division 2 and the Game Changers. When possible, fans will also see the two influencer teams.
After the groups and matches are over, the top two teams will advance to the next phase. Those who remain will play in a single super group, which will determine which 6 teams will go to the Playoffs. The latter will be a double-elimination bracket.
Once the Super Group is over, the two teams will advance to the Upper Bracket, while those that are between 3rd and 6th place will be in the Lower Bracket.
Following the end of the tournament, the top two non-LFL teams will secure a slot for the European Regional Leagues (ERL). Moreover, they will get the chance to compete in the next two splits.
Closing thoughts
All of this news came just a few days after it became clear that Riot changed its ERL policies. Teams have the freedom to build more competitive rosters after the Locally Trained Representative rule was removed. It will be interesting to see how things will play out in the long run, so make sure to follow us for more information.
