The League of Legends arena is finally back in 2025. After it debuted in 2023, LoL Arena quickly gained popularity as one of the hottest limited-time LoL events. Players were eager to see it back in action, and in the end, Riot decided to return it in 2025.
The current LoL Arena works differently and is much more sophisticated than before. Whether you’re grinding or just having fun, there are many things you need to know, and we’re about to examine them.

League of Legends Arena – What is It
League of Legends Arena is a 16-player mode that includes a 2v2v2v2v2v2v2 format. Unlike the standard 5v5 matchup, the LoL Arena does not have minions or turrets, so there are no objectives. The Arena was initially added with the Soul Fighter event in 2023, and, as mentioned, the 2025 version comes with huge changes.
The event is now called Arena: The Grand Reckoning and it’s a PVP mode where players must face off against other duos in several rounds. At the time of writing, Riot offers 5 different arenas where players can play:
- Frostbite Thicket
- Magma Chamber
- Desert Oasis
- Ancestral Woods
- Koi Pond
- Reckoner Arena
An interesting fact is that each LoL team has one shared HP bar, and it will lose HP when it is defeated. Once a team’s HP is 0, the game is over, so the goal is for a team to be the last standing and defeat everyone else. Alongside glory, teams will also compete for “Fame”, which is a progression track for League of Legends’s new Arena.
The Actual Arena
Once the Arena starts, players will have a preparation phase, during which they have to select power-ups. After this time is over, each team will be transferred to one of the rings, where they will play against another team. Assuming the team wins the round, it will advance to the next one, but if it loses, the shared HP bar will be reduced. The end goal is for only one duo to stay.
In terms of the power-ups, they can be in the form of Gold, Anvils, or Augments. Starting with the latter, these are enhancements, and there are more than 100 of them to choose from. Currently, these Augments are divided into 3 separate tiers – Silver, Gold and Prismatic.
In terms of Anvils, they offer special AoE items and perks that become available in rounds 3, 7 and 10. It’s also worth noting that you can use your gold to buy the standard League of Legends items.
If you decide to spend your gold and get Anvils, you also have 3 variations:
- Stat – They cost 750 gold and will grant you a random stat upgrade.
- Legendary – These come at 2000 gold and will let you pick between all Legendary items in the specific class.
- Prismatic – If you have over 4000 gold, you can get a random option from all Prismatic Items.
Guest of Honor
If you’ve played the LoL Arena in 2023, you may remember there was something called “Cameos”. Although it was cool, Riot decided to replace it with another mechanic known as Guest of Honor. These are rotation champions that will basically change the rules under which players are competing for the rest of the fight.
Once you start playing, you will get the chance to vote during Rounds 2 and 8 and select the specific champions that you want to be the Guest of Honor. These champions do not take part in the fight itself, but they tweak it.
LoL Arena Rewards & Fame Level
As mentioned earlier, the League of Legends Arena in 2025 offers Fame. This is a new progression system with nine levels, each of which will unlock a different perk. To earn Fame, players must do well and try to finish as high as possible. To achieve that, they have to complete special missions and so on.
Here’s an overview of all levels and what you get:
- Level 1 – Overflow
- Level 2 – Hattrck
- Level 3 – Matchup Intro upgrade
- Level 4 – Slow and Steady
- Level 5 – One Reroll
- Level 6 – Matchup Intro upgrade
- Level 7 – And My Axe
- Level 8 – Transmute Chaos
- Level 9 – Matchup Intro upgrade
League of Legends Arena Tips & Tricks

As you can see, the LoL Arena has many specifics that make it very interesting among players. It is highly unlikely to see it as a stand-alone game in the future; however, there’s no arguing that it offers loads of fun. We at Blix.gg have been playing for a while now, so here are a few tips that you can use if you wish to improve your results:
- Pick champions that you are comfortable with – Arena is an amazing mode, but in order to win, you must pick a champion you are comfortable with. Just keep in mind that not all champions are the same because some work way better in the Arena than others.
- Ideally, you need to communicate with your partner – Whether you’re playing with a friend or random player, ideally, you need to communicate with that person.
- Check the latest updates – Riot Games can decide to change some of the specifics related to Arena, so always check what’s new.
Conclusion
We will definitely keep an eye on the LoL Arena because we expect to see even more interesting changes. Considering its popularity, Riot Games will most likely try to keep it for longer. Who knows, we may even see a stand-alone game version in the future.
