It seems like League of Legends fans will have access to a new champion relatively soon. There have been leaks about the arrival of the Darkin champion Zaahen, including his abilities and role. There’s a lot to talk about, so see everything.

League of Legends Zaahen – First Look
Based on the most recent leaks, Zaahen will be League of Legends’s latest champion. He was first featured in The Demon’s Hand, Riot’s minigame. There have been speculations about his arrival for some time now and it all started after the game dropped clues about the link between the lost weapon of a Darkin and Ionia and Atakhan.
While we are not 100% sure whether the new champion will be called Zaahen, it seems like he is likely going to be a bruiser-style champion. In other words, people can use him for the jungle or the top lane.
Since the new champion has not been announced yet, we also do not know much about his abilities. Despite that, the community made an effort and came up with a few potential abilities that we could see.
Who are the Darkin in LoL?
As mentioned, Zaahen will be a part of the Darkin. This is a race in LoL that used to be noble Ascended beings. They used to have immense strength, but they fell into madness after centuries of war. Darkins were on the verge of destruction, so their essence spread across Runterra.
As of now, LoL only has three Darkin champions:
- Aatrox
- Varus
- Rhaast
If Zaahen makes it to LoL, he will be the 4th of his kind and a rare case where Riot expands this lore-rich race.
LoL Zaahen’s Abilities
Based on the information on Reddit and other places, Zaahen’s kit is all about CC, mobility and sustained damage. We are not 100% sure if what you are about to see will become live, but here’s what we expect:
- Q – This ability will probably empower his auto attack and work similarly to Xin Zhao’s Q.
- W – Zaahes’s W will pull the enemy towards him and will passively grant the champion lifesteal. This should make the ability similar to the one of Darius.
- E – This will be Zaahen’s dash ability that will deal damage to enemies around him. It should be something similar to Kyan’s Reaping Slash
- R – While some argue that his ult will be a big AoE spell, we do not have any leaks as of yet. It seems like we’ll have to wait for the official release to see it.
- Passive – Zaahen’s passive ability should allow him to build stacks, similar to how Aatrox’s ability worked. Once he gains max stacks, he will get lifesteal that will allow him to keep his HP up at all times.
Zaahen LoL Release Date
If the rumours are true and these are Zaahen’s abilities, we can safely say he will be a solid choice. Sadly, we do not know if this will be the case because Riot Games has not said anything about Zaahen’s release date yet.
Considering that the LoL Patch 25.18 came out just a few days ago, we’ll most likely have to wait until the next LoL update. Even if Riot does not release him in the next update, there’s a good chance this will happen before 2025 comes to an end.
In the meantime, every day that passes brings us one step closer to Worlds 2025. Riot recently announced the Worlds 2025 ticket prices, but now we will have to wait to see all the teams that will attend the event. If Zaahen joins the game on time, we may even see him at the big event.
