LPL Split 1 2025 Overview
Aside from being a part of the LPL series, we also have to mention that the event will take place in China. In fact, we will see it across 4 major cities – Shanghai, Xi’An, Beijing and Suzhou.
Organized by TJ Sports, the LPL Split 1 has tons of sponsors, including Mercedes-Benz, War Horse, TCL, Intel-Gaming, and more. The competition will begin on 12 January and will begin sometime in February.
Format & Reward
Among the interesting aspects of the LPL Split 1 is the format. The event will begin with a Group Stage with four separate groups. The teams in each group are selected based on the points they earned from the Summer 2024 and Spring 2024 placements.
Now that the groups have been decided (more about that in a bit), the teams will play in a Bo5 format. Interestingly, we will see the newly added Fearless Draft in action. Once the groups are over, the first 2 teams will go to Playoffs, whereas the bottom 2 will no longer be a part of Split 1.
Speaking of the playoffs, they will offer us a double elimination bracket. The winning team from each group; goes to the Upper Bracket Semifinals, whereas the runners-up will be in the lower bracket. The format here is the same as the one in the Group Stage (Fearless Draft, Bo5).
The LPL Split 1 2025 has intriguing rules regarding the Group Stage and Playoffs side elections. In the groups, players will need to play in a 1v1 match, whereas in the playoffs, there will be a coin flip.
The LPL Split 1 2025 prize pool hasn’t been announced yet. However, what we do know is that the winner will qualify for the First Stand 2025. The latter will be the second cross-regional event and it will take place in March.
Group Stage
The groups for the LPL Split 1 in 2025 are set, and each one has its interesting name. Let’s go through all 4 and learn more about the teams and the favorites there.
Group A
Starting with the first group, League of Legends fans will see the following names:
- Anyone’s Legend
- LGD Gaming
- Team WE
- Top Esports
By the looks of it, Top Esports and Team WE will be the two teams that fans will keep an eye on here. Top Esports did very well in 2024 after seducing several 2nd and 3rd placements, whereas Team WE has a new roster, and it will want to put it to the test.
Group B
The second group here will allow us to watch these teams:
- Weibo Gaming
- JD Gaming
- Ultra Prime
- Oh My God
Weibo Gaming and JD Gaming will be the two main competitors in LPL Split 1 2025’s second group. Li “Xiaohu” Yuanhao and his team have had a fairly good 2024 (despite not winning a big event), so they’ll try to get at least the same results in 2025.
Group C
Looking at Group C, the LPL Split 1 will give us access to these teams:
- Bilibili Gaming
- EDward Gaming
- LNG Esports
- ThunderTalk Gaming
It comes as no surprise that Bilibilig Gaming is the squad to keep an eye on here. The team is the defending champion and will try all it can to win the competition one more time.
The second squad, in our opinion, that’s worth following here is EDward Gaming. It has been a while since the organization won a big competition, but 2025 is when this can change.
Group D
Lastly, we have Group D, which will allow us to watch these teams:
- FunPlus Phoenix
- Invictus Gaming
- Royal Never Give Up
- Ninjas in Pyjamas
It seems like Group D is the most interesting one yet because all 4 teams have a chance to win. FunPlus Phoenix seems to be in a slightly better position than the rest, but it is much closer than we think.
Conclusion
