Luis Felipe, COO of Meta Gaming, talked with BLIX.GG about the new year for the South American organization with operations in Brazil but owned and founded by Paraguayans.
Meta had a huge relationship with PUBG having conquered multiple tournaments in Brazil but the peak was in the PUBG Global Invitational.S in 2021 in Incheon, South Korea, where the roster led by Pedro “sparkingg” Ribeiro was able to get 7th place in finals. The organization stopped the operations in the game in mid-2021 but it’s now ready to return to a well-known place according to Luis: “Yeah, we’ll join PUBG, we have a huge history in the title. Meta will fight for titles in PUBG.”
In CS:GO, Meta established a Brazilian roster that is always “bothering” bigger teams and consistently fighting for their place in the scene. For example, in the EPL Season 17 South American Conference Open Qualifier, the team reached the semi-final beating teams like RED Canids and Paquetá and getting further in the qualifier than O PLANO and Fluxo.
Michael “dok” Marques and Mateus “supLex” Miranda, two key players in Meta’s system, are on loan from B4 but Meta’s intention is clear. “Both are excellent players, we would like to get them in definitive. Meta wants to keep them but we didn’t decide yet if we’re going to try a new loan or to try to buy them. We already told B4 our intention to get dok and supLex.”
Even with the favoritism from other teams, Meta is not giving up on the RMR run and the team will try to get the spot to further think in a bootcamp in Europe.
“For the Major, we’ll gather the boys in a Gaming House to achieve the RMR. We want to conquer a spot in a European tournament before thinking about a bootcamp there.”
The new year can bring news for Meta and maybe VALORANT could be one of the news.
“Our focus is on the games that we are now present. Maybe in the second semester, there’s a chance to join VALORANT in the second semester but we’re still seeing what’s possible. Our priority would be a female roster because there are more tournaments and it’s a scenario in ascension.”
