Since the launch of the first Oni skins in Valorant back in 2020, they have been quite the popular skin in the fan base. In the eyes of many, being one of the best skins that have launched in the game. This could be factored in due to the historical value that this skin has on this game. As such being one of the original skins from the earlier edition of the game, many fans have shown their outpour of love and excitement over the launch of the new bundle. Within the Oni 2.0 bundle, we are also going to get the Katana sword, which many have been waiting to get their hands on.

History of Oni Skins in Valorant

Oni Skins available for sidearm weapons in Valorant

Almost two months after the game’s launch, in July 2020, the first Oni bundle was made available. Since then, the skin line has gained a tonne of popularity among fans thanks to its references to mythology and feudal Japan as well as the popularity of a character like Jett in the beginning. Many also wondered if this skin collection was hinting at a map with a Japanese themed being released but that is yet to happen.

Before Valorant’s full launch, other skins that had been introduced had previously undergone the 2.0 update. Especially the Ion, Prime, and Reaver sets. All Riot social media have now posted the trailer video. Fans couldn’t wait for the skin to be released so that they could try it out in-game. In the first Oni bundle, one could obtain skins for the following weapons:

    · Shorty

    · Bucky

    · Guardian

    · Phantom

    · Claw Melee

The Oni 1.0 bundle was one of the first few gun skins that had a special animation following the finisher as well as animation while inspecting the gun and shooting from it.

    The Oni 2.0 Skin

On Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at the beginning of Episode 6 Act 2, the new Oni 2.0 skin package will finally be released. Players in North America will be able to download the Act patch at 2 PM PST. Players from other regions can correlate to the launch time accordingly. With the arrival of a new Act, stay tuned for nerfs to both characters and abilities. In the Oni 2.0 bundle, the following guns will be available to purchase:

    · Vandal

    · Bulldog

    · Ares

    · Frenzy

    · Melee ‘“ Katana

The inclusion of the Katana has made the fanbase have their hands on their heads with shock and glee. Each of the weapons skins will have a similar design pattern to the original bundle with its fair share of changes. It will be available in four variants; these variant colors are as follows:

    · Red (default)

    · Green

    · White

    · Black

One small thing to note is that there is a chance that there won’™t be an exclusive shooting sound for these new weapon skins. This first came to light in the Trailer video, where there was no form of SFX from any of the guns.

Is the Oni 2.0 Skin worth the price?

One of the available Oni skins on a rifle in Valorant

Oni 1.0 skins were priced each at 1775 Valorant Points and the melee was available for 3550 back in 2020. The Oni skins come under the premium category which puts them at a higher level just below the exclusive skins. As such these would be available later on the market for a lower price point. Seeing the trend with the Reaver 2.0 skins, it does look like the price for the upcoming bundle will be the same as well.

While the skin does look really good, if you have any other Vandal skin already, it won’™t be worth the price. If you are a fan of the original set and would like to have the whole collection, then this skin is definitely worth it. As a blast from the past, it doesn’™t seem that Riot can do any wrong with these skins. Having made sure to use the ideology of ‘œif it ain’t broke don’™t fix it’ and increased the hype for the upcoming patch.
