Hackers attacked the Overwatch 2 shooter servers on the first day of release, Blizzard President Mike Ybarra revealed on Twitter.

"Unfortunately we are experiencing a mass DDoS attack on our servers. Teams are working hard to mitigate/manage. This is causing a lot of drop/connection issues," he noted.

In addition, queues of up to 50 thousand users interfered with the normal start of a new game.

The situation couldn’t be stabilized timely. Eight hours after the CEO of Blizzard, Overwatch 2 game designer Aaron Keller reported that a second hacker attack had also taken place. He said the team is working to fix all errors as quickly as possible.

Overwatch 2 is a first-person shooter developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. It is a sequel to the 2016 hero shooter Overwatch. Overwatch 2 is free-to-play on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.

A day before the start of Overwatch 2, October 3, Blizzard turned off the servers of the game's first version.
