It’s been a while since we’ve seen banks in Dota 2, but there has been a new ban wave. Following the news from Perfect World and Valve, several Dota 2 players have been banned for match-fixing. 12 Chinese superstars will no longer compete, so we at Blix.gg decided to dive deep.
Perfect World and Valve Ban 12 Dota 2 Players from China
Following an investigation by Perfect World, it became clear that 12 Chinese Dota 2 players were involved in match-fixing. The investigation was extensive, and now that it is over, some players will receive a permanent ban, whereas others will not be able to compete for two years.
Those we won’t see in action anymore include:
- Lu “L’enfer cést les autres” Yubin
- Chen “Small.Kk” Zhichao
- Liew “Eren” Jun Ji
- Hu “Mlasses” Jiaxing
- Li “xiaoyu” Quiayu
Alongside those who got perma-banned, others received a two-year penalty from all Dota 2 events. These are their names:
- Zhu “V” Lianfa
- Feng “Killa” Bonian
- Li “RanFuDao” Xinyuan
- Liu “Manic” Junhui
- Wang “marblue” Heng
- Yu “Tz.” Chengwei
- Wan “59” Tao
If you’ve been following the Dota 2 controversies regarding match-fixing, you may notice that some names have appeared before. Players like Xiaoyu have been involved in previous match-fixing scandals that resulted in a 2-year penalty. Sadly, it seems like the punishment was not enough because the player decided to repeat his actions.
The Aftermath
Unfortunately, the Chinese Dota 2 scene has been plagued by issues in the last couple of years. Old-school Dota 2 fans may remember that this was one of the most prosperous regions in Dota 2 before it had some of the best teams. Sadly, the many match-fixing issues and the decline in the semi-pro and pro events there led to the region’s overall downfall.
We hope that things will change in the future because China has always had some of the best players in the world. Hopefully, the region will bounce back in the next couple of years.
