Brazilian Rainbow Six coach Matheus ‘Budega‘ Figueiredo’s suspension has come to an end following a 12-month ban. Budega was previously banned for multiple breaches of the Rainbow Six Circuit Global Rulebook for engaging in ‘major misconduct directed at members of Team Liquid,’ during the Six Major in Charlotte. Budega’s former organization, XSET, also had to pay a $5,000 fine for the infraction.
At the time, the coach reacted to the suspension on Twitter, stating, ‘During the course of our match with Team Liquid, I said something awful. I used slang that, for me, has a different meaning, but it’s for most, extremely offensive.’ After apologizing to everyone involved, Budega finished ‘I will take this time away to reflect and learn from my mistakes (‘¦).’
Now in M80, Budega talked with BLIX about this year-long suspension: ‘I believe that today I see how stupid I was at that moment. I crossed the line on trash talk and was punished as I should have been. I found the time too long, compared to other punishments in other cases. I tried to continue even offering my prizes to participate in the last Invitational, without success.’
During Budega’s suspension, Igor ‘Vivas‘ Vias, a long-time partner of the coach, stepped up from assistant coach to head coach for M80. Now, with Budega back in the scene, Vivas says: ‘he said he wanted me back, I intend to stay for a short time, I think he has matured enough to be the main coach in the future.’
The return
The return to the servers for Budega will be in the Gamers8 tournament, happening in the beginning of July in Saudi Arabia. M80 qualified after the 3-2 victory over DarkZero in the North America qualifier. The tournament will have eight teams competing such as Team BDS, w7m, G2 and NIP.
‘I’m very happy to classify for Gamers8 because that’s where I will finally be able to return to my stage where I belong. I believe that in the tournament where I was punished, I was very confident and making many decisions correctly. We could win if the punishment came after the tournament. So I am very confident coming to Gamers8.’
