Gaimin Gladiators became one of the best Dota 2 teams in Western Europe and one of the big reasons for its success was Melchior “Seleri” Hillenkamp. The team’s captain was incredibly innovative and helped the squid achieve some impressive results. Unfortunately, he decided it was time to step back, so he will be moved to GG”s inactive roster.
Seleri Parts way With Gaimin Gladiators
According to the information we have, Seleri decided to step down from Gaimin Gladiator’s active roster in mid-February. This was a personal request because the pl;ayer needed to take a break. With that said, this decision shocked Dota 2 fans worldwide because it happened during the FISSURE Universe: Episode 4 qualifiers in Western Europe.
Following this announcement, Gaimin Gladiators started playing with Arman “Melady” Orzbayev. Fans were hoping that the Seleri would be back in action, but after the most recent farewell video, it became clear that this won’t be the case.
Seleri’s decision came just a day after it became clear that dyrachyo was also stepping down from Tundra Esports.
Seleri’s Achievements
It is safe to say that Seleri was one of the most successful Dota 2 captains in the last couple of years. After joining Team Tickles (before becoming Gaimin Gladiators), Seleri and his crew quickly became one of the best teams in the world. Their conquest began in late 2022 and lasted throughout 2023 because the team won almost all big tournaments back then.
During Gaimin Gladiator’s conquest, Seleri proved himself as one of the most innovative captains in Dota 2. He was the brain behind GG’s signature fast-paced gameplay and focused on the laning stage. Furthermore, he was among the few support players who often used heroes outside the current meta, such as Chen.
Unfortunately, failing to win The International two times in a row had a negative effect on Gaimin Gladiator’s morale. The squad started making several roster changes in a row, resulting in poor results in 2024. Although 2025 looked promising, the Western European powerhouse continued to have issues and has yet to win a big tournament.
The good news behind Seleri’s decision is that the player said he will definitely be back. “I hope I have been and will be seen as the vegan guy who likes to play Chen and Enchantress”, said Seleri.
Following the roster changes, GG”s roster looks like this:
- Alimzhan “Watson” Islambekov
- Quinn “Quinn” Callahan
- Marcus “Ace” Hoelgaard
- Erik “tOfu” Engel
- Arman “Malady” Orazbayev
