People often consider Gaimin Gladiator as one of the best Dota 2 teams, but the squad’s most recent results haven’t been the best. That’s why some people are not surprised by Melchior “Seleri” Hillenkamp’s decision to take a break. However, it turns out that there’s a different reason for his decision.
The Decision
If we look at GG’s Twitter, we can see that the organization said Seleri has been placed in the inactive role. It seems like both the player and Gaimin Gladiators decided to do that because of the intense scheduling of events.
There were rumors that GG was doing this on purpose, just to find a new player. However, Seleri decided to respond and said that this was his personal request. He also said that he is glad his teammates understand his decision.
To be fair, Gaming Gladiator’s 2025 schedule so far has been grueling, to say the least. The team took part in the DreamLeague Season 25 Qualifiers, as well as the matches for ESL One Raleigh 2025. After failing to qualify for both competitions, Gaimin Gladiators also failed in the PGL Wallachia Season 4 quals. Fortunately, the team finished second at BLAST Slam II.
Gaimin Gladiator’s Under Seleri
It’s safe to say that Seleri is among the best Dota 2 in-game leaders in Western Europe. Gaimin Gladiator achieved tons of impressive results under his leadership, especially in 2023. The squad won all Majors and got 2nd place at The International 2023. Although 2024 was not the best for the team, Seleri and co. lifted the Riyadh Masters 2024 trophy and finished 2nd at TI 2024.
Although all of GG’s players were on another level, Seleri quickly rose to the top with his unique tactics. He was the reason behind the team’s fast-paced playstyle and the use of heroes like Chen and Enchantress.
We really hope that Seleri will be back in action soon because fans will miss him. Now that he is no longer a part of the scene, Arman “Malady” Orazbayev will be the one to take his place. The stand-in will be GG’s new POS 5 players but we are not sure if he will also be the team’s captain.
