After failing to live up to expectations, Daniel “Stormstormer” Schoetzau and Masrcel “Ekki” Holowienko decided to part ways with AVULUS. These significant changes come just a few days after ESL One Raleigh 2025, an event that AVULUS will participate in.
Stormstormer and Ekki’s Departure
After his decision to leave the organization, Stormstormer tweeted that he was grateful for the experience. According to him, he “made the decision that I want to part ways with the team and seek out new opportunities”.
It will be interesting to see which will be his next team because Stormstormer used to be a part of Entity. He helped the latter achieve impressive results, but after the end of the DPC, the player decided to look for a new challenge. Who knows, he may join another EEU powerhouse.
Speaking of challenges, Ekki is the 2nd player from AVULUS who will part ways with the club. Like his counterpart, Ekki also thanked the organization for the opportunity. Unlike Stormstormer, Ekki only started playing in the last couple of years. Despite that, he already has solid experience with several big names in Dota 2.
AVULUS Needs to Make Big Changes
To be honest, Stormstormer and Ekki’s departure from the team should be a wake-up call for the organization. It has been a while since the squad achieved any good results. The last event where AVULUS performed well was ESL One Bangkok 2024.
2025 did not start well for the squad, as it failed to qualify for many of the big events. In fact, the squad even failed to get a slot for ESL One Raleigh 2025. Lucky for them, there was a big controversy around Na’Vu Junior abusing a well-known bug, which allowed AVULUS to take their slot.
There are just two weeks left until the tournament begins, so AVULUS will need to make changes soon. ESL One Raleigh 2025 will take place in the USA from April 7 to April 13. We will see 12 teams in total, so make sure to follow Blix.gg for more details.
