Even though the team was one of the big favorites, Team Spirit will miss out on ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023.
ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 is the first big Dota 2 tournament after the end of The International 12, taking place this December in Malaysia. It’s set to include 12 world-class teams. Team Spirit, the squad that won The International 12, were supposed to be part of it, but it looks like we won’t be seeing the team in action.
Team Spirit’s Decision
According to the official statement from ESL, Team Spirit will miss ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 due to health issues. This is a huge hit for organizers and fans because TS is one of the world’s most loved Dota 2 teams. Unfortunately, those who attend the tournament and people who watch from home won’t be able to follow Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk and his allies in action.
Who’s going to fill in the slot?
ESL has said that the available slot will go to the winner of a Western European Closed Qualifier. According to them, this is the 2nd most competitive region right now, so they’ve decided to add a team from there.
More About the Tournament
As mentioned, ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 will be one of the biggest Dota 2 tournaments after TI12. As mentioned, 12 teams will give everything they have to win the tournament, whose prize pool will be $1,000,000 USD.
