Valve, Dota 2’s publisher, have officially announced that The International 2023 will be held in Seattle from October 27 to October 29, confirming earlier reports that suggested Dota 2’s top tournament would return to Valve’s home turf.
“Mark your calendars: The International returns to Seattle this October. The world’s best Dota teams will once again compete for the Aegis of Champions, this time in Climate Pledge Arena, welcoming the largest audience in the event’s history,” noted Valve’s statement.
Valve’s decision to return The International to Seattle for 2032 marks a return to Dota 2’s roots, with The International being continuously held in the city from 2012 to 2017. Since then, the massive tournament has jumped around between host cities, notably not being in North America for the past four years.
Valve have also announced a change to the format of the tournament, shortening the length of the main event while introducing a new stage called ‘The Road to the International’, which is set to kick off on October 14.
