    In the last couple of years, the Valorant Pro scene has seen so much growth from viewership to the talents the 2024 season has exceeded expectations, broken records, and significantly impacted the Esports scene. Today, Valorant Esports is considered the fastest-growing esports in the world and the most-watched FPS game, surpassing so many games and titles. This article shows you all the significant events and achievements during the 2024 Valorant season and how much this sport has grown this year and possibly become the most popular Esports ever.

    2024 Season Significant Events

    EDward Gaming Winning Champions

    There was so much hype and excitement around this year’s VCT season. Unexpected and turnaround events dominated Valorant Esports this year, so here are the 2024 season highlights:

    • Record-Breaking Year: 2024 marked the most successful season in the history of the VALORANT Champions Tour.
    • Growth in Viewership and Engagement: All International Leagues saw substantial increases in viewership and fan interaction.
    • Pacific’s Historic Victory: Gen.G claimed the region’s first-ever global event trophy.
    • Champions Seoul Sets New Records: Achieved 9.1 million peak viewers and 44.3 million unique viewers worldwide.
    • EDward Gaming’s Milestone: Became world champions in their league’s debut year.
    • Expansion of Competitive Scene: Over 40 teams joined Challengers through Premier.
    • Game Changers’ Success: The Game Changers Championship reached a record-breaking 466,000 peak viewers.
    • Florescent’s Historic Move: Became the first Game Changers player to join the International Leagues.
    • Revenue Sharing Success: The VCT shared $78.4 million with teams, including $44.3 million generated from digital goods.

     Spectacular Global Events

    Sentinels Lifting Madrid Trophy

    The first international Valorant event was Masters Madrid, which broke records by reaching 3.1 million peak concurrent viewers. Watching the Sentinels mount an incredible lower-bracket comeback to defeat Gen.G 3-2 was a pleasure. The event marked a fitting farewell for TenZ and Sacy, who retired at the end of the year.

    The second Masters event occurred in Shanghai, China, where hype meets passion. Another historical international event where Gen.G triumphed over Team Heretics in an epic 3-2 Grand Final, earning the Pacific region its first global event victory.

    Finally, Champions Seoul brought the top 16 teams together at the COEX Artium. The biggest tournament featured fan festivities, PC live shows, and a captivating opening ceremony celebrating VALORANT’s diverse world. In a Grand Finals showdown for the ages, EDward Gaming overcame Team Heretics to claim the title. ZmjjKK’s record-setting performance earned him the Champions MVP award.

    This fantastic event captured the eyes of 9.13 million peak viewers and 44.38 million unique viewers for the Grand Finals. Many of these numbers come from the Chinese Valorant fans, which indicates the fast growth of Valorant Esport in China. 

    A Vibrant Offseason

    Offseason: Redbull Home Ground

    This offseason has been the busiest yet, featuring over 30 events worldwide. Beloved tournaments like Ludwig x Tarik and Red Bull Home Ground were joined by newcomers such as the Radiant Asia Invitational and the Spotlight Series. Notably, mixed-gender rosters competed on the main stage for the first time, marking a milestone for inclusivity.

    The Game Changers scene also reached new heights. The Game Changers Championship in Berlin expanded to 10 teams and peaked at 466,000 viewers. Shopify Rebellion secured their second title, led by MVP Florescent. Her historic signing with Apeks for the 2025 season as the first Game Changers player in an International League team added to the year’s milestones.

    Economic Success

    VALORANT’s growth extended to its economic impact. Esports digital goods generated $44.3 million, contributing to $78.4 million shared with teams through stipends and prize pools. Organizations benefited further from sponsorships, merchandise, and fan memberships, creating a thriving ecosystem supporting players, teams, and fans.

    2024 was an incredible year for the Valorant fan, capturing great moments and fantastic plays alongside some exceptional upcoming talent ready to challenge the veteran players.

    Hopefully, in the upcoming years, the Valorant Esports scene will still stand tall and offer great events like this year while keeping the crowd entertained, pushing more boundaries, and showcasing the players’ talent to the world.
