Gustavo “Sacy” Rossi has announced his retirement from competitive Valorant after four years of competing.
This shocking news was announced on the Sentinel X account in a video titled “The Veteran Heart That Took Us to the Top: Retiring as a Sentinel.”
Many players supported his discussion and wished him the best for his next journey. “He was acknowledged as one of the top Valorant players.”
Many consider Sacy a Brazilian icon and legend. He started his Valorant journey in 2020 with Team Viking, which became the first team to represent Brazil on an international stage after winning regional Masters 1.
The tournament didn’t go as planned, and Team Viking had much to catch up to. Still, they made their name stand out and made Brazil proud.
At the beginning of 2022, Sacy joined the LOUD, a team of new and excited players to compete alongside Sacy with the experience to guide them and be their mentor.
Sacy was seen once again on the international stage at ReykjavÃk. LOUD showed promises throughout the tournament but failed to secure the trophy against Optic Gaming. However, things got worse when they were eliminated by Optic Gaming once again in Masters Copenhagen and finished in the bottom two.
LOUD would make another international appearance in the Valorant Champions 2022, this time with more dedication and focus. LOUD looked furious on the group stage and kept dominating the playoffs. Even their rival opponent, Optic Gaming, couldn’t stop them and won the tournament, making them the first Brazillian team to win Champions.
Sacy left LOUD the following year alongside pANcada to join Sentinels, leaving the Brazilian team behind.
When the season started, Sentinels struggled to keep up with the other teams, leading the team to make several staff and player changes. The Sentinels struggled to qualify for an international event for the next two years.
Sacy’s second international trophy
Sacy and the rest of Sentinel’s hard work would finally pay off after qualifying and winning Masters Madrid, giving Sacy his second international trophy. Sentinels missed Masters Shanghai but bounced back and qualified for the last tournament of the year, Champions 2024.
Sentinels had a decent run in Champs, where they figured out how to beat Gen.G in a rematch and eliminate them. During their time at Champions 2024, Sentinels took down Fnatic and DRX. Sentinels ended Champions in respectable top-four spots and ended their season, marking it the best season Sentinels has ever had.
