Launched on July 7 2015, Rocket League emerged with a new concept’” a game joining football with cars. The game went free to play in 2020, but the ranking system is the same as it always was.

In Rocket League you have the following game modes:

    • 1v1 Duel
    • 2v2 Doubles
    • 3v3 Standard

The following aren’™t competitive games, but if you play ten matches on each you can up your rank on those modes. These extra modes are:

    • 3v3 Snow Day
    • 3v3 Rumble
    • 3v3 Dropshot
    • 2v2 Hoops

How does the Rocket League rank work?

Each rank corresponds to a level you have in the game. The ranking system can be seen as a mountain you climb with points. You’™ll earn those points with matches in MMR ‘“ Matchmaking Rank. Your points will vary with victories and losses.

The ranking system works like a division, where you play with and against people who’™ve got the same or quite similar rank as you. The number of points you earn in each match is determined by the MMR of your adversary. If your opponent is lower ranked than you, you won’™t get as many MMR points as beating someone in the same rank or higher.

How to unlock the Rocket League ranking system?

To get you in the ranking game, you need to up your level in-game to 10. Then your rank will be ‘œunranked’, and you’™ll need to play some more matches to determine your actual level and rank. You’™ll have a unique rank for each mode: solo, duos and trios.

Each rank has three tiers: I, II and III and inside these tiers there are four divisions ‘“ I, II, III and IV.
