Sebastian âHorizzonâ Lalic spoke to cadiaN at IEM Katowice about his career, North-American CS and its European influences.
Sebastian “Horizzon” Lalic BLIX: Your CSGO career started on Xapso and since then you’ve been well-traveled with organizations, like Mouz and Rogue being on your CV. How has moving around changed your view of the game?
Casper ‘cadiaN’ Møller: “Playing in different teams you get to experience different cultures, different personalities, and stuff like that. You learn to cope better with those differences. You see it in football as well, if a player has been in the same team for 10 years and then goes to a different club it’s very difficult for him to keep his form and fall in shape naturally.
So yeah, I’ve had a bit of a bumpy road, especially at the beginning of my career but I’ve also had a long stint at Rogue and now a very long stint at Heroic. I’ve been here for more than 3 years which is pretty long for esports and I’m used to the people here and it is nice.”
BLIX: About rogue specifically, you were one of the first EU players to go to a NA team and bring that influence. Is there something the NA boys did differently that changed your view?
cadiaN: “I’m not sure, they just had different philosophies of playing and practicing. I tried to share some of the Danish ways of thinking and the European mindset and that worked pretty well. In general, that was a good experience, there were some really good guys and the organization took really good care of me.
It’s a bit of a shame they don’t do CS anymore but they’re doing tremendously well in LoL and such, so I’m super happy about that.
Other than that, I was lucky to join a team that was willing to learn and willing to listen and we ended up being a good team in the end.
BLIX: There have been more EU players joining NA teams again, do you think that’s a good move for them?
cadiaN: “It can be yeah, I think right now it’s not as many now the NA scene is in a rough place. There was a period where it was me, Cerq, this danish player anJs and maybe not too many remember him also moved there and Liquid had s1mple. There was a situation where it was even more than now. It’s good because the talent pool at times is a bit limited in NA and also they just need better structure and a better vision of the game. Obviously, they’re hiring more coaches and coaching staff so it doesn’t have to just come from a player.”
