A few days ago, we at Blix.gg mentioned that the League of Legends Patch 25.S1.1 is coming soon. Well, the date is finally here because Riot gave us access to tons of new features and options. It’s interesting to check what’s new, so let’s dive deep into some key changes following the new LoL update.
Contents
Fearless Draft
Among the first new changes in League of Legends Patch 25.S1.1 is the addition of Fearless Draft. This is going to be the new Tier-1 league format that professional players will use.
The new mode is very interesting because it will make it so that a given champion can’t be picked more than once in a series. What’s even more fun is that this rule will apply to both teams, meaning that if someone picks a champion, it is out of the pool for the next games.
According to Riot, the company wants to try its new drafting mode because it wants to matches more interesting. Furthermore, the people behind LoL want to give players with unique champion pools the opportunity to showcase their capabilities.
Noxus and The Rift
As mentioned before, League of Legends Patch 25.S1.1 will be the season of Noxus. Since this will be the season’s theme, you should not be surprised when you see that it took over everything. Turrets, shopkeepers, and even minions are now under its influence and look a bit different.
That said, Riot decided not to change the entire map because it wanted it to remain somewhat familiar for players. All of the Noxus changes will remain active until the end of Season 1 because Season 2 will give us access to even more things.
Atakhan & Respawning Nexus Turrets
Among the new additions to League of Legends in the current season is various monsters. One of them is Atakhan, and he will spawn 20 minutes after the start of the game. He will appear in the river close to the bottom of the top lane.
Atakhan will spawn in the location where there was more damage and kills in the first 14 minutes after the game starts. What’s also unique is that he will take different forms depending on the amount of damage and kills done in the game until then. Aside from the “standard” version, you also have the Ruinous Atakhan.
The teams that kill the new boss will receive an Epic monster buff, as well as Blood Roses. The latter is going to be the new plant in the game that gives a small bonus to the team (permanent XP and Adaptive Force buff). Keep in mind that these roses can spawn before 20:00.
As for Atakhan, if there’s not much action going on, players will face the Voracious Atakhan. Following his death, the team that kills him will receive a death mitigation buff that works similarly to Guardian Angel. Furthermore, the champion will be teleported to the base.
Here are the buffs you will have access to:
- Voracious Atakhan Buff – After killing the boss, the team will receive a buff that grants 40 bonus gold when killing champions. There is also a death mitigation effect that will be available for 150 seconds. Instead of dying, players will be in “stasis” for 2s and then return to their base in 3.5s. The champion that “kills you” will receive 100 gold and 1 Blood Petal.
- Ruinous Atakhan Buff – If you have to deal with this monster and kill him, the team that does it will get a 25% boost to the Epic monster rewards. Moreover, they will get 6 Bloody Petals and can collect 6x Small and large Blood Rose Plants.
- Blood Roses and Petals – These petals will give players 25 XP that will increase based on the KDA, as well as between 1 and 0.33 Adaptive Force. Players can get these Petals via a Blood Rose or Atakhan.
As for the Respawning Nexus Turrents, Riot decided to make the Nexus Turrets respawn at full HGP after a certain amount of time.
Feats of Strength
One of the biggest changes in League of Legends Patch 25.S1.1 is the addition of Feats of Strength. This is a new system that will remove the gold bonus players get from the First Turret and First Blood. Instead, players will get the Feats of Strength that teams will fight over and Monster Slaying. The latter requires 3x Epic Monster skills.
The team that completes 2 of the 3 Feats of Strength will have a Tier 2 boot upgrade to the Triumphant versions. Later on, the same team can upgrade their boosts to Tier 3, but they will need to spend gold and have at least 2x legendary items in the inventory.
We won’t go into more detail about the changes because there are many of them, so check the full changelog for more information.
Teleport
One of the interesting changes in the League of Legends Patch 25.S1.1 is related to the teleport effect. Riot changed it so it no longer blinks the champion after channeling. Instead, the unit will travel through the map more slowly. However, once players have access to Unleased Teleport, they will move much quicker.
Alongside these changes, Riot is also returning the option to target minions and wards while porting. On top of that, Homeguards will be active from the game’s beginning and will go stronger after the 14th-minute mark.
Lane Minion Changes
Another change in the most recent League of Legends update is to lane minions. Riot decided to alter some of the rules so that the early game was not as punishing as before.
Following the changes, the Minion waves will now clear each other much faster. They will do more damage and have less HP. “We’re maintaining the health total of minions at around the 6-minute mark, as this is when some champions start to unlock one-spell destruction of caster minions, but otherwise, we’re scaling them longer into the late game.”
Turrets, Champion Bounties, Swiftplay, and SR Ranked Season 1
Turrets will now have more maximum damage. Another change related to them is the softening of the turret Fortification. The latter makes the top and mid-lane turrets take less damage early on.
On to the champion bounties, Riot is “simplifying the bounty rules for underperforming champions”. Following the changes, the champions whose stats are 0/1 and 0/2 will be worth less gold than before.
Patch 2025.S1.1 in League of Legends will offer some players Swiftplay. This new mode allows players to “experience their champion’s fantasy” without the punishing early-game disadvantages. Keep in mind that this mode is not yet available in all regions.
It goes without saying, but the new League update also means that the SR Ranked Season 1, 2025, has arrived. The season started on Jan 9 at 12 PM, so players should be able to play by now. Players will receive a reset at the start of this season, and it seems like it will be the only one for 2025 (according to Riot).
Conclusion
The League of Legends Patch 25.S1.1 gave us access to tons of interesting new content. Alongside what we’ve mentioned here, there are also several interesting LoL champion changes, but we will cover them in a separate article. Make sure to follow us for more details!
