After four days of matches, the PGL Wallachia Season 5 Group Stage is over. We saw many surprising results, but in the end, some of the best teams in the world proved why they are often the favorites. It’s interesting to go through everything, so let’s dive in.

Unlike other tournaments, PGL Wallachia Season 5 only had one group. Teams had to go against each other in a fierce battle over the course of 4 days. During that time, we saw a lot of impressive results, but in the end, the following teams advanced to the playoffs:

    • Team Spirit
    • Gaimin Gladiators
    • Aurora Gaming
    • Natus Vincere
    • Team Liquid
    • BetBoom Team
    • Xtreme Gaming
    • Tundra Esports

Perhaps Gaimin Gladiators and Aurora Gaming where the two Dota 2 teams that surprised us the most. It’s been a while since GG had little to no problems in events, so we are happy to see them where they belong. The squad ended with 3 victories against Aurora, AVULUS and Team Tidebound.

As for Aurora Gaming, the team only made one mistake and it was against Gaimin Gladiators. Other than that, the squad defeated OG, Xtreme Gaming and Tundra Esports. The last victory was very impressive because everyone thought that Tundra would have won.

Sadly, all of the other participants were eliminated from the competition. We can’t say that we were surprised by some results (such as those of Virtus.Pro, AVULUS, & OG), but we expected more from others. For example, there were many expectations around Edge, especially after Puppey and Parker played for the club, but it wasn’t able to live up to the expectations.

Nigma Galaxy is another team that we expected more of. The squad finished 14th in the Group Stage after losing 3 matches and securing only 1 win. Here is the full list of all teams that won’t be able to attend the Playoffs:

    • Wildcard
    • Edge
    • OG
    • Nigma Galaxy
    • AVULUS
    • Virtus.Pro
    • Team Tidebound
    • HEROIC

    What’s Next?

After the end of the epic Group Stage, it’s time for the Playoffs. This part of PGL Wallachia Season 5 will start on June 26 and end on June 29, and we’ll have a double-elimination bracket. All matches are Bo3, and the Grand Final will be in Bo5.
