Dota 2 might not be in its best state yet, but this doesn’t mean one of the biggest Esports in the world doesn’t have loads of fans. 2023 was a good year for our favorite game, and the same is true for 2024. We have yet to see DreamLeague Season 24 and ESL One Bangkok 2024, but there were loads of other top-tier events.

The competition for every single tournament is fierce, but there’s no arguing that some teams have performed much better than others. Some of you haven’t kept a close eye on the professional Dota 2 scene, so let’s analyze the top 5 most titled Dota 2 teams in the last two years.

    Contents

    • 1 Gamin Gladiators
    • 2 Team Liquid
    • 3 Team Spirit
    • 4 Team Falcons
    • 5 Tundra Esports

    Gamin Gladiators

    — "Dogwater" is a slang term that means something is extremely bad, useless, or worthless. It’s often used in gaming communities as an insult to describe poor performance or a lack of skill.

It’s almost impossible to talk about Dota 2 team rankings in 2023 and 2024 and not mention Gaimin Gladiators. A lot of people consider Gaming Gladiators among the most dominant Dota 2 teams in the game’s history. Some may think that this is a bit too much, but the team’s results speak for themselves.

Gaming Gladiators first entered the competitive Dota 2 scene in early 2022 after the organization acquired Team Tickles. Despite the slow start, GG slowly but steadily became the best Dota 2 team in the world.

2023 was amazing for Quinn “Quinn” Callahan and his teammates. If we take a look at the squad’s results, we can see that Gaimin Gladiator won the following events:

    • Lima Major 2023
    • DreamLeague Season 19
    • ESL One Berlin Major 2023
    • DreamLeague Season 20
    • Bali Major 2023
    • BetBoom Dacha 2023

Apart from winning all of the competitions mentioned above, GG also performed very well in the other events. The team finished 2nd at The International 2013 and ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023.

As for the 2024 results, GG continued to be among the best in the world, but the team only won the Riyadh Masters 2024. With that said, Quinn and the rest finished second at DreamLeague Season 23, 1win Series Dota 2 summer, and The International 2024.

    Team Liquid

Our champions don’t just play the game—they wear the crown.

When talking about successful Dota 2 teams, we need to mention Team Liquid. The latter suffered the most from GG’s success in 2023, but it seems like 2024 is this organization’s year because the players are on another level.

If we analyze TL’s results in 2023, we can see that the squad did not win any big event aside from the DPC Tours. Nevertheless, it achieved a lot of top 3 placements in the following competitions:

    • Lima Major 2023 – 2nd place
    • DreamLeague Season 19 – 2nd place
    • ESL One Berlin Major 2023 – 2nd place
    • Bali Major 2023 – 2nd place
    • Riyadh Masters 2023 – 2nd place
    • ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 – 3rd place

Gamin Gladiator was Team Liquid’s nightmare in 2023, but things changed in 2024. The year started with a 2nd palace BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024, followed by a 4th place at Elite League Season 1. The next couple of events weren’t that good for Team Liquid, but things changed at the Riyadh Masters 2024.

After finishing 2nd there, TL won the Elite League Season 2 and The International 2024. Although Liquid failed to shine at BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024, we expect better results in the next two big events.

    Team Spirit

When you check the Dota 2 teams Liquipedia, you will see Team Spirit there, and for a very good reason. This was among the best teams in the game’s history, and it achieved fairly good results in 2023 and 2024.

Starting with the squad’s performance last year, Team Spirit won three big tournaments in a row. The club’s first big success was during the Riyadh Masters 2023, the event with the largest prize pool in 2023. Spirit defeated Team Liquid and won $5M.

After the impressive victory, the team also dealt with Shopify Rebellion at DreamLeague Season 21. The same happened at The International 2023, where Denis “Larl” Sigitov and his team defeated Gaimin Gladiators and won the championship.

As for 2024, Team Spirit has won two events so far:

    • PGL Wallachia Season 1
    • 1win Series Dota 2 Summer

Aside from these two, TS also finished 2nd at Clavision: Snow Ruyi and FISSURE Universe: Episode 3.

    Team Falcons

When it comes down to Dota 2 teams, Team Falcons is one of the new additions to the pro scene. Andreas “Cr1t-” Nielsen and his teammates became a part of the professional Dota 2 scene in late 2023. Despite that, the team won its first event (Pinnacle:25 Year Anniversary Show) just a few weeks after it started playing. No one knew that this was the beginning of something epic because 2024 has been the best year for this team yet.

2024 started with three impressive victories at the qualifiers of different events. After that, the team achieved the following results:

    • BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 – 1st place
    • DreamLeague Season 22 – 1st place
    • Elite League Season 1 – 2nd place
    • ESL One Birmingham 2024 – 1st place
    • PGL Wallachia Season 1 -3rd place
    • DreamLeague Season 23 – 1st place
    • Riyadh Masters 2024 – 3rd place
    • FISSURE Universe: Episode 3 – 1st place
    • The International 2024 – 4th place
    • PGL Wallachia Season 2 – 2nd place
    • BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024 – 1st place

There’s no arguing that Team Falcons is the best Dota 2 team in the world right now, Only time will tell whether it will continue to impress with its results in 2025.

    Tundra Esports

    — TUNDRA (@TundraEsports) October 28, 2024

The last Dota 2 team that definitely deserves more attention regarding its performance in 2023 and 2024 is Tundra Esports. A lot of people expected the squad to do really well in 2023 because it won The International in 2022. While it’s true that TE had some fairly good results, overall, it didn’t live up to the expectations.

In 2023, Tundra Esports only won the BetBoom Universe: Episode 1. Besides that, the organization finished 4th at DreamLeague Season 19 and 3rd at the Bali Major 2023.
Tundra’s 2024 results are also not that better than the rest. So far, the club has a 4th place at the Riyadh Masters 2024 and 3rd place at TI 2024 and PGL Wallachia Season 2. Most recently, Tundra lost the Grand Final at BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024 against Team Falcons.
