    DreamLeague Season 28 Qualifier Preview

DreamLeague Season 28 will be among the first major Dota 2 tournaments in 2026. The event will take place between February 16 and March 1 and will include 16 teams. We already know the names of some, but others have to go through the qualifiers, so it’s time to check all of them.

    Contents

    • 1 North and South America
    • 2 Western Europe
    • 3 Eastern Europe
    • 4 China
    • 5 Southeast Asia

    North and South America

North and South America will have their own Closed Qualifiers that will result in one team from each region attending DreamLeague Season 28. We have already watched the Open Qualifiers in both regions, so here are the Closed Qualifier teams from North America:

    • GamerLegion
    • CatChamp
    • GG Boom
    • Rottweilas LATAM

CatChamp looks like the favorite here because the squad consists of names like K1, Gunnar and DuBu, all of which are well-known names in the Dota 2 scene. Only one squad will qualify, so we expect the matches to be epic.

Moving on to South America, the Closed Qualifiers will be much bigger because we will have 8 teams in total. The bad news is that SA also has only one slot, so the competition will be fierce. Speaking of competition, here are all the teams we’ll see in action:

    • Estar Backs
    • X5 Gaming
    • Amaru Gaming
    • HEROIC
    • Looking for Org
    • Peru Rejects
    • Team Sangre
    • BTC Gaming

There are three teams that are clearly on another level – HEROIC, Peru Rejects and Team Sangre. HEROIC is the big favorite because it has been the most dominant SA Dota 2 team in 2025, but we’ll see if it can deal with the two opponents.

    Western Europe

The Western European DreamLeague Season 28 qualifiers will definitely be the most interesting to watch. We will see 8 teams in total fighting for 4 slots, which means each team has a 50% chance of qualifying. This makes the entire qualifiers very intriguing because teams will do whatever they can to get that slot.

Speaking of the participants, here are all the names we’ll see in action:

    • Team Falcons
    • Virtus.Pro
    • Team Liquid
    • Natus Vincere
    • Zero Tenacity
    • Team Lynx
    • Nigma Galaxy
    • MOUZ

It is safe to say that these qualifiers can be a tournament of their own, considering the level of teams we’ll see. Team Falcons and Team Liquid are probably the two squads that stand out the most here. Both are among the best in the world and we expect to see them at DreamLeague Season 26.

MOUZ, Nigma Galaxy and Virtus.Pro are also three teams that we expect to perform well. Each one has real chances of advancing to the event, but we will only see four, so the battle will be fierce.

    Eastern Europe

The Eastern European region for the DreamLeague Season 28 Closed Qualifier will also be a deathmatch. Similar to South America, we’ll see 8 teams in total, but what’s surprising is that they will only get one slot. This means that the stakes are very high because only one squad will make it. Here are all the names we’ll have access to:

    • BetBoom Team
    • Power Rangers
    • Aurora Gaming
    • 1w Team
    • AVULUS
    • 4Pirates
    • Rune Eaters
    • Cheeki_Breeki

Two teams here are clearly in a league of their own – BetBoom Team and Aurora Gaming. It is sad that EEU only has one region because it would be great to see both of them at DreamLeague Season 28. If we have to make a prediction, we believe that BetBoom Team will make it through.

    China

China is the only region right now where the Open Qualifiers for DreamLeague Season 28 are not over yet. As for the format, it will be the same as in Eastern Europe – Xtreme Gaming, Yakult Brothers, Vici Gaming,  Game Masters, and YB.Tearlaments.

Another interesting fact is that the qualifiers themselves are called ESL Challenger China and it will be a stand-alone tournament with a $142K prize pool. We will have to wait to see the three remaining teams that will join the rest, but for now, Xtreme Gaming and Vici Gaming seem like the obvious favorites.

    Southeast Asia

The last region that will have one representative at DreamLeague Season 28 is Southeast Asia. It will have the following 8 teams:

    • Yangon Galacticos
    • Ivory
    • Execration
    • Carstenzs Esports
    • BAIYAWAK
    • Team Nemesis
    • Trailer Park Boys
    • KUKUYS

Judging by the teams and their players, it seems like Team Nemesis and KUKUYS are those that will stand out. They will have to go up against a couple of other solid teams, so it will be interesting to see what’s going to happen.

Don’t forget to follow us for more information. DreamLeague Season 28 starts in just a few weeks.
