FISSURE Cancels Three CS2 Events From Upcoming Calendar

FISSURE has canceled three previously announced Counter-Strike 2 tournaments and updated its long-term event plans. This change impacts one event set for April 2026 and two more that were scheduled for July 2026 and July 2027.

This marks a major change from FISSURE’s earlier plans to expand, but the organizer says all other scheduled events will go ahead as planned.

FISSURE April 2026 Shenzhen Event Pulled Due to Scheduling Conflict

    FISSURE Shenzhen

The first canceled event was the April 2026 tournament planned for Shenzhen.

FISSURE explained that the event would have ended only one day before IEM Rio began. This tight schedule would have made it very hard for top teams to attend both events without affecting their preparation and performance.

To avoid a weaker lineup and logistical issues, FISSURE decided to cancel the event.

FISSURE July Events Scrapped Over Player Break Concerns

The two additional cancellations originally planned for July 2026 and July 2027 stem from competitive concerns rather than travel logistics.

FISSURE pointed to its experience with FISSURE Playground 1, which happened during the official player break. The organizer found that events during this time have trouble attracting top teams and do not meet the high standards expected from major tournaments.

In its statement, FISSURE emphasized that it aims to maintain a high competitive standard and avoid hosting events during downtime periods in the professional circuit.

Remaining FISSURE Events Still on Track

Even after canceling three tournaments, FISSURE confirmed that the other eight planned events are still on its schedule.

FISSURE described the move as a strategic choice, focusing on quality instead of quantity as the CS2 calendar fills up. With top teams managing their travel and rest more closely, it is now important to fit in with the wider competitive scene.

Now, with a more focused schedule, FISSURE’s main goal is to run its remaining events well. How these events go could shape the organizer’s reputation in the changing Counter-Strike scene.
