Swedish esports organization Ninjas in Pyjamas has signed a Finnish professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen.
The 25-year-old esportsman came to NIP from G2 Esports, where he has been playing since January this year. He started to find a new team in July.
To make room for Aleksib, NIP has benched Nicolas “Plopski” Gonzalez Zamora, who has performed for the team since 2019.
NIP management also announced that Aleksib would be the new in-game leader and the squad would use English for communication. Before the appearance of Alexib, the NIP’s CS:GO roster included Swedes and a Dane (Danish is close to Swedish).
“Under the leadership of djL [Daniel “djL” Narancic, coach], we’re excited to see how this new constellation of Brollan, REZ, hampus, es3tag & Aleksib will evolve with new roles and ideas, and will continue our quest towards growing into a championship contending team,” said Jonas Gundersen, COO Ninjas In Pyjamas.
Aleksib will debut with NIP at IEM Road to Rio RMR in Malta from October 4-9.
Ninjas in Pyjamas currently are:
- Fredrik “REZ” Sterner
- Hampus “hampus” Poser
- Patrick “es3tag” Hansen
- Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin
- Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen (IGL)
- Daniel “djL” Narancic (coach)
