Ninjas in Pyjamas have announced that Gareth 'MisteM' Ries has taken on the role of in-game leader, replacing Alejandro 'alex'Masanet, who the Swedish organization has benched.
During a challenging ten months, 'alex' bravely led the Ninjas and guided them through a tough period that culminated in a last-placed finish at Copenhagen's RMR. Despite this setback, 'alex' remained resilient and was responsible for rebuilding the team, welcoming new players Artem 'r1nkle' Moroz, Max 'maxster' Jansson, and Isak 'isak' Fahlén to the roster.
After a few months, he was no longer needed as the new roster, which had initially shown great potential, struggled to perform well in the new season.
In January 2024, 22-year-old 'MisteM' took over for 'alex' and became a part of the Young Ninjas team. Under 'MisteM's leadership, the team reached its peak at World No. 54 earlier this year.
Daniel 'sprayxd' Kogan, who previously coached 'MisteM' in Young Ninjas and ATK, will be joining the main team as an assistant coach to Richard 'Xizt' Landström, replacing Fredrik 'slap' Junbrant.
The pair will also be reuniting with their former teammate 'maxster', who played a crucial role in Young Ninjas' performance in early 2024. However, 'maxster'sperformance with the main team has declined, with his rating dropping to 0.96 in the last three months.
The spotlight has now shifted to the Shanghai Major cycle, where 'MisteM' and 'sprayxd' have a brief two-month window to make their mark on the team as NIP strives to qualify for their inaugural CS2 Major.
