Cloud9 has confirmed that Sergey ‘Ax1Le’ Rykhtorov and Kirill ‘Boombl4’ Mikhailov are leaving the team, as they are both moving to BetBoom.
The announcement arrives during a total disbandment of the Cloud9 roster, with Kaisar ‘ICY’ Faiznurov having already moved to Virtus.pro and Nikita ‘HeavyGod’ Martynenko reportedly being heavily associated with G2.
In bidding farewell to ‘Ax1Le’ and ‘Boombl4’, Cloud9 now has no remaining members from the superteam lineup they built in the middle of 2023 with the inclusions of Denis ‘electroNic’ Sharipov and Ilya ‘Perfecto’ Zalutskiy.
The previously mentioned roster failed to meet expectations, achieving its best results with a top-four placement at the BLAST Fall Final 2023 and a top-eight finish at the PGL Major Copenhagen. In the middle of 2024, a restructuring around ‘Ax1Le’ and ‘Boombl4’ was initiated, incorporating ‘HeavyGod’ and ‘ICY’, along with a returning Timofey ‘interz’ Yakushin.
Cloud9’s most recent version accomplished very little of significance during the latter part of 2024, struggling to advance in qualifiers for major LAN tournaments. Nonetheless, they did reach the Perfect World Shanghai Major, where they were eliminated in the Opening Stage with only one map victory to show for their efforts.
‘Ax1Le’ and ‘Boombl4’ mark a notable duo of acquisitions for BetBoom, who have maintained a position near the top 20 in the world rankings since they joined the CS scene in 2023. They recently sidelined original players Vladislav ‘nafany’ Gorshkov and Aleksandr ‘KaiR0N-’ Anashkin after failing to secure a spot in the Perfect World Shanghai Major.
