Counter-Strike 1.6 and CS:GO legend Jeghor “markeloff” Markelov is going to return to the competitive scene with Cossacks.
VlаdÑslаv “bondik” NеchÑÑоrchuk, another Ukrainian esports veteran spoke about this in a podcast with Konstantin “LENINIW” Sivko.
bondik said that markeloff will return to esports but not as a player and he will be working with him and Ioann “Edward” Sukharjev.
He noted he has no right to reveal the details but made it clear that he would be the coach of the revived Cossacks.
Cossacks, with bondik and Edward as headliners, were disbanded in August last year. Announcing the disband bondik criticized his teammates for unprofessionalism.
35-year-old markeloff started his professional career in Counter-Strike in 2008 and moved to CS:GO in 2012. During his time playing Global Offensive, the Ukrainian played for Natus Vincere, HellRaisers and others. He is regarded as one of the greatest AWPers in Counter-Strike history, a player who revolutionized AWPing with his extremely aggressive playstyle that focused heavily on finding entry-kills for his team.
