SAW has revealed that José ‘Shr’ Gil will be their fifth addition. The 23-year-old previously played for SAW Youngsters in 2021 and has since been part of several Portuguese teams, with his latest club being GTZ.
SAW has declared that Michel ‘ewjerkz’ Pinto has been placed on the transfer list, stating in their announcement that the choice was made “with the player’s desires taken into significant account.
The decision represents a significant setback for SAW, who sidelined their other leading rifler, Rafael ‘arrozdoce’ Wing, in October under comparable conditions. Additionally, they ended their association with coach Danny ‘BERRY’ Krüger just a day afterward, the coach who guided the team to a top-four finish at IEM Cologne earlier this year.
‘ewjerkz’ became a member of SAW in the middle of 2022 and rapidly made a name for himself as the standout player on the team. He remained an essential part of SAW’s roster as they gained international prominence in 2024, forming a formidable trio with ‘arrozdoce’ and Joao ‘story’ Vieira.
The 24-year-old achieved a team-leading rating of 1.13 throughout the year as SAW secured qualification for their inaugural Major, PGL Major Copenhagen, entered the top 10 of the world rankings for the first time, and unexpectedly advanced to the semi-finals of IEM Cologne.
‘ewjerkz’ consistently made an impression during SAW’s international competitions, like in the previously mentioned IEM Cologne event, often leading the scoreboard while winning most of the team’s opening duels.
