We will have access to two big Dota 2 tournaments until the end of 2024, and BLAST Slam I is one of them. Taking place between November 26 and December 1, this tournament will attract many big names.

Organized by BLAST, the tournament will be played in the BLAST Studio in Copenhagen, Denmark. 10 of the best Dota 2 teams in the world will give their best and compete for the impressive $1,000,000 prize pool.

There are a lot of important things to cover, so let’s analyze everything and see what you will get.

Dota 2 Blast Slam I – Format and Reward

Like all Dota 2 events from the last couple of years, Blast Slam 2024 will have a Group Stage and Playoffs. The groups will begin on November 26 and last until Nov 29. During that time, fans will see two groups of five teams. The games will be in a best-of-one format, and once the group stage is over, teams will advance to the playoffs depending on how they perform.

The squad that finished first will advance to the semifinals, whereas the 2nd-place team will go to the quarterfinals. The Dota 2 team that finished 3rd will go to Round 2, whereas the 4th and 5th placed teams will be seeded to Round 1.

After the playoffs arrive (between Nov 30 and Dec 1), we will watch a single-elimination bracket. The Grand Final will be best-of-five, whereas all other matches will be best-of-three.

As for the Blast Slam 1 prize pool, those who secure first place will receive $400k from the reward. The team that comes second will get $200K, whereas the 3rd-4th placed teams will receive $80K.

    The Teams

Aside from the exciting format, the second reason why Blast Slam I will be such an interesting event is because of the teams. Unlike other tournaments, Blast Slam Dota 2 decided not to have any qualifiers. Instead, it invited all 10 teams that will take part in the competition. Here are their names:

    • Team Liquid
    • Team Spirit
    • OG
    • BetBoom Team
    • PARIVISION
    • Xtreme Gaming
    • HEROIC
    • Gaimin Gladiators
    • Team Falcons
    • OG

    The Underdogs

Considering that all 10 teams were invited to the BLAST Dota 2 event, it’s no surprise that each one has the potential to win. Everyone knows that Team Falcons, BetBoom Team, and Gaimin Gladiators are among the best right now. What’s more interesting, however, is the underdogs at this event, so let’s learn more about them.

    OG

Once one of the best Dota 2 teams in the world, OG is not in its best state right now. In fact, the team went through a complete roster change around a month ago and added several interesting players. With that said, we are yet to see the new roster in action on the big stage.

Speaking of new rosters, Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahano, Leon “Nine” Kirilin, and Yap “xNova” Jian We became a part of the club a few weeks ago. All of them are well-known in the professional scene.

    Tundra Esports

A lot of you will say that Tundra is not an underdog, and we agree. However, when you take a look at the BLAST Slam I, we can see that Tundra is definitely not among the top 3 teams there.

Unlike OG, however, Tundra Esports has had some success lately. If we take a look at the team’s performance in 2024, we can see that it finished 3rd at ESL One Birmingham 2024 and The International 2024. As for its most recent results, Tundra lost to Team Falcons in the final of BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024.

The Big 3 To Keep an Eye on

In addition to the underdogs, people who watch the BLAST Slam 1 event will also see a lot of the biggest names in Dota 2. Although there are a few potential favorites, we believe that three names are above the rest.

Team Falcons is the first one because this is the best Dota 2 team in the world right now. TF won most of the competitions it was a part of, and it continues to impress with its results. Needless to say, this team is also the favorite to win ESL One Bangkok 2024.

The second big name at the Blast Slam 1 Dota 2 tournament is Gaimin Gladiators. Even though 2024 hasn’t been as good as 2023 for this team, GG won the Riyadh Masters 2024 and came 2nd at TI 2024. This is more than enough to make them one of the favorites.

Lastly, we have BetBoom Team because the players finished 2nd at DreamLeague Season 24 just a few days ago. Dota 2 is a game where teams usually keep their momentum, so we expect them to show their prowess once again.

    Conclusion

There are a few more days left until BLAST Slam I begins, so make sure you don’t miss out on it. As we’ve seen, the event will feature almost all of the best Dota 2 teams in the world right now. This will be a good warm-up for ESL One Bangkok 2024, the tournament that will begin just a few days
