The Wandering Waters update changed tons of things in Dota 2 and made the game even more interesting. A few months later, 7.38c came to life, bringing some of the much-needed buffs and nerfs, and it’s safe to say the patch is fun.
With that said, Dota 2 fans worldwide are already looking at what’s next and can’t wait to see what the new patch has to offer. Even though no one knows what’s next, there are a few things we at Blix.gg would like to see, so let’s check them out.

A Clearer Role Management

If you have been a long-time DotA and Dota 2 player, you know that some heroes only work when playing in specific positions. Back in the DotA days, for example, Pudge was a hero that people only used for the mid-lane. Likewise, Phantom Assassin was a hero who was only a carry, Lina was always a support, and so on.
While we appreciate that Dota 2 is unique because it allows certain heroes to be played in many different roles, we believe that the game should add a clear role management system. This means that the meta needs to change so that certain heroes will usually be in a fixed position.
A lot of you will say that this may make the game feel predictable and boring, and it’s true up to a point. However, it will allow those who are just getting started to feel a lot more relaxed because they’d know what to expect and what to do. Speaking of new players, this is the next thing we want to talk about.
Making the game simpler to understand without losing its complexity
Dota 2 is a unique MOBA in many ways. The game is easy to pick up but extremely hard to master, especially if you are just getting started. It was already a complex game before introducing things like talents, facets, neutral items, innate abilities, and so on. Nowadays, however, the situation is even more complex, and many new players simply do not want to go through the process of learning how to play.
While old-school Dota 2 players like us may not have issues, Dota 2’s complexity scares a lot of potential new players. In our opinion, the next Dota 2 update after 7.38 should try to find a way to make the game simpler to understand without losing its complexity. This won’t be easy, but if Valve achieves it, it will make our favorite game much more popular.
Return of Specific Items

One of the reasons why Dota 2 has always been one of the top games in its genre is the cosmetic items. Even if you are not a big fan, you can’t deny that having a cool-looking hero makes everything more interesting. With that said, Valve decided to slow down the release of Immortals and Arcanas, so we hope that they will slowly make their way back.
Alongside seeing more items like that, we also hope that Dota 2 will allow us to get some of the old items again. A lot of the players that are active today haven’t played Dota 2 when things like IO’s Arcana were available. If Valve decides to bring back something like that, people will have the chance to experience these items the same way we did.
It would also be great if Valve updated the way some items work. Adding new animations, unlockable styles, and other effects can make them much more interesting.
New Objectives

If there is something that Dota 2 fans have been eager to see for a while, it has to be a new objective. Valve indeed updated the Dota 2 map and added a few new things, but most people expected to see other changes.
Something that we are definitely looking forward to is a new Roshan-type of objective. Having the chance to kill a big Neutral Creep and get a reward for it will make the game even more interesting than it is. It’s true that it will also make it a bit more complex, but Dota 2 is already hard to master, so adding a new element might be a step in the right direction.
A new Hero
Even though this is very unlikely to happen, one of the things on our next Dota 2 patch wishlist is seeing a new hero. Valve usually releases only one new hero per year, but we can definitely agree that people will appreciate it if they have access to new options.
We’ll make sure to let you know as soon as there is anything new about Dota 2’s upcoming update. Don’t forget to follow us if you need any more information.
