The Dota 2 mid lane has always been an arena where (usually) two players clash in an epic 1v1 matchup. Picking the right mid laner hero in a given meta is extremely important and can often determine the outcome of a given match. Some heroes are good in every patch, but each update has its specifics, and the Dota 2 patch 7.37d isn’t an exception.

What you are about to see is the most successful PUB mid-lane heroes you get in the current patch. Each has an impressive win rate and proven an excellent option, so let’s dive in.

    Necrophos

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIdrinRmaGQ

Despite not being the most traditional Dota 2 mid lane hero in 7.37d, some people will often pick Necrophos as a pos 2. If you decide to do the same, you will see that he can lane fairly well against pretty much anything. This explains why the hero’s win rate is at 52.69%, and his pick rate is close to 11.77%

    Skill Build

Most people who choose Necrophos will almost always focus on Death Pulse and Heartstopper Aura. Depending on the midder, however, some players may also choose Ghost Shroud (at least once) early on.

    Talents

Here are the best talents for Necrophos you can get right now:

    via DotaBuff

    Facet

People who decide to use the Prafane Potency Facet will see that it has a 77.64% presence and a 53.56% win rate. This is much better than the Rapid Decay, with its 22.36% presence and 49.31% win rate.

    Items

Necrohpos is a fascinating hero in terms of items because you can get all sorts of options. As a midder, however, some are more important than others.

    Starting items

Most Dota 2 mid lane players who choose Necrophos will have the following items:

    • Iron Branch (x2 or x3)
    • Tangoes
    • Circlet
    • Mantle of Intelligence

    Early Game

The early game items that most Necro players go for will include:

    • Magic Wand
    • Null Talisman (x1 or x2)
    • Boots of Speed

    Mid Game

The mid game items for Necrophos depend entirely on whether he wants to focus on dealing damage or utility. Here are some of the popular items:

    • Eul’s Scepter of Divinity
    • Radiance
    • Aghanim’s Shard
    • Blink Dagger
    • Eternal Shroud
    • Mekansm

    Late Game

Almost all core items (aside from those that provide agility) are an okay option for the late game. The most common alternatives include:

    • Shiva’s Guard
    • Heart of Tarrasque
    • Aghanim’s Scepter
    • Refresher Orb
    • Octarine Core
    • Black King Bar

    Situational Items

    • Blade Mail
    • Lotus Orb
    • Pipe of Insight
    • Dragon
    • Veil of Discord

    Lone Druid

The second hero that you may or may not see in the mid lane in the current Dota 2 patch 7.37d is Lone Druid. With a win rate of 55.17% when he is mid, this has to be one of the best heroes for this role right now. With that said, there are instances where it is better to place him elsewhere, such as in the safelane.

    Skill Build

Players wishing to pick Lone Druid must focus on his Spirit Bear and Spirit Link. If there are a lot of roamers, a mid-lane LD can also get Savage Roar at least once because it will help him escape.

    Talents

These are the talents that people go for:

    via DotaBuff

    Facet

Although all 3 Facets could work, Bear with Me is the best one, and it has a 71.26% presence and a 53.05% win rate. Bear Necessities has a 24.16% presence and a 46.02%  win rate, whereas Unbearable has a 4.57% presence and a 40.08% win rate.

    Items

There are a lot of different types of items that Lone Druid players can go for. Since he is among the best mid lane Dota 2 heroes right now, let’s see what you can expect.

    Starting Items

Most people will start with the following:

    • Iron Branch
    • Tango
    • Wind Lace (for the bear)
    • Quelling Blade

    Early Game

The go-to items for the early game with Lone Druid will almost always include this:

    • Boost of Speed (for the Bear and the Hero)
    • Magic Wand
    • Wraith band

    Mid Game

Although the items here may vary, most people pick these:

    • Phase Boots
    • Skull Basher
    • Radiance
    • Mask of Madness
    • Maesltorm

    Late Game

Every single carry item works on Lone Druid, so the options will depend on the opponents. Here’s what most people usually get:

    • Butterfly
    • Black King Bar
    • Monkey King Bar
    • Mjollnir
    • Eye of Skadi
    • Desolator

We won’t include any situational items here because, as mentioned, you can get almost everything.

    Zeus

The last of the best mid lane Dota 2 heroes in Patch 7.37d that you should focus on is Zeus. He has always been a strong midder in PUB games, regardless of the patch. At the time of writing, the hero’s win rate is close to 51.09%, and his pick rate is at 14.13%.

Even though Zeus is easy to play, he is hard to master because there are a lot of things you need to consider. With that said, let’s go over some of the key aspects.

    Skill Build

There are different skill builds that you can find, but most players choose to focus on Arc Lightning. Some will rotate between it and Lighting Bolt, but they may also get a point in Heavenly Jump.

    Talents

The screenshot below shows you the talent that most people go for.

    via DotaBuff

    Facet

Some Zeus players choose Divine Rampage as their first facet, which has a 54.01% presence and a 51.58% win rate. Livewire, on the other hand, has a 45.99% presence and a 50.61% win rate.

    Items

Zeus players usually get the same items in every game. That’s why it’s time to learn more about how it all works.

    Starting Items

In most cases, Zeus picks the following:

    • Iron Branch
    • Tango
    • Circlet
    • Mantle of Intelligence (1 or 2)

    Early Game

In the early game, Zeus uses these things:

    • Bottle
    • Boots of Speed
    • Magic Wand
    • Null Talisman (1 or 2)

    Mid Game

Zeus is very strong in the mid game, so here’s what he usually goes for:

    • Phylactery
    • Aghanim’s Scepter
    • Aether Lens
    • Kaya
    • Arcane Boots
    • Aghanim’s Scepter

    Late Game

Zeu’s late game items can vary, but the most popular ones include:

    • Refresher Orb
    • Octarine Core
    • Ethereal Blade
    • Scythe of Vyse
    • Boots of Travel
    • Khanda

    Situational Items

In certain cases, Zeus can use these:

    • Bloodstone
    • Linken’s Sphere
    • Meteor Hammer
    • Dagon
    • Shiva’s Guard

    Conclusion

The current meta allows us to use a wide range of midders, especially in PUBs, but the ones mentioned here are on another level. Keep in mind that the effectiveness of certain heroes depends on the skill bracket you are in. That’s why you should not be surprised if there are some differences.

We’ll keep an eye on the meta and let you know when something changes, so definitely follow Blix.gg for more information.
