Largo Dota 2 Hero Guide – Overview and Abilities
Before diving into more details about the latest Dota 2 hero, we’d like to start by checking his abilities. He is definitely one of the most interesting new additions we’ve seen in the last couple of years.
Largo is a melee, strength Dota 2 hero that is labeled as a “disabler” and “support”. According to Valve, he “amplifies his allies, inspiring efficient spellcasting and projecting greater harm upon his foes”. The hero has a unique skillset that consists of the following abilities:
- Catchy Lick – When used, Largo “licks” the targeted unit and pulls it back a short distance. While doing it, the hero applies a basic dispel and deals damage if it is an enemy. If he dispels something from a target, it will grant Largo a temporary health regeneration.
- Frogstomp – This ability allows Largo to toss froglings to an area and they will stomp the ground every 1 second, dealing damage and ministunning. Enemies that are affected by this ability will also have their movement speed reduced.
- Croak of Genius – After using it on a friendly unit, the hero’s items and abilities have reduced mana cost and a percentage of their damage reverberates over the next 5 seconds. If that specific hero spends mana, his remaining buff duration is reduced by 0.5s.
- Amphibian Rhapsody – Largo is disarmed while using it and can switch between 3 songs, each of which grants a specific bonus. Every time he strums successfully, he gains a stack of Groovin’. Each of these stacks gives bonus armor and reduces the mana cost of every song. Just keep in mind, he will lose a stock if he misses a beat. These stacks will stay for even a few seconds after the song is over.
Largo Dota 2 Starting Stats & Facets
Now that you know more about Largo’s abilities, it’s time to share some details about his starting stats.
As mentioned, he is a strength hero and will start with some of the more important stats:
- STR – 24 (+3.6 per level)
- AGI – 14 (+1.3 per level)
- INT – 21 (+2.4 per level)
- Damage – 63-69
- Armor – 4.3
- Movement Speed – 290
In terms of the Largo Dota 2 facet, he currently has only one – Musical Pilgrimage. An interesting fact about it is that it has not done anything yet. We expect Valve to update it in the next couple of weeks.

Largo has been out for a little over 24 hours at this point, so it’s no surprise that we have not had that much time to test him. Nevertheless, we played several games with him over the last day and believe that he works best as a support.
From our experience, Largo excels at positioning fights. He has to have good positioning to be successful and we can see how this can cause issues in the lower-ranked MMR games.
The hero’s buff is really strong when used with specific heroes properly. Those who rely on their abilities to do damage simply feel a lot stronger when Largo buffs them.
His ultimate is also a bit tricky to use, so we recommend practising it before you start playing. Once you start getting consistent timing, the successful songs will give you Groovin’ stacks that can dramatically improve your utility in teamfights.
