If you were waiting for the True Sight documentary about The International 12, you’re going to be disappointed.
One of the things the Dota 2 community’s been waiting for since the end of The International 12 is True Sight. Besides the post TI12 roster changes, this is the second-most anticipated thing the community wants to see, as it reveals a lot of behind the scenes information. After seeing the past True Sight movies, fans got the chance to learn more about their favorite players and teams, how they perform and do what they do, and more.
Even though the community was eager to see the True Sight documentary for 2023, Team Spirit confirmed it won’t be happening. Needless to say, this came as a shock for the community because people were eager to learn more about Team Spirit’s second TI win.
According to the person in charge of Team Spirit’s content creation, Vyacheslav ‘Art1st’ Lyadnov, there won’t be a True Sight documentary for The International 12, at least this was the info he posted on Telegram. What makes this news even more disturbing is the Dota 2 community is still waiting for the True Sight from The International 11.
This makes TI12 the second International in a row where we won’t have a True Sight movie. Something that’s bound to be a huge disappointment for all Dota 2 fans, especially those who like Team Spirit.
There are likely many reasons why we won’t have access to a True Sight for 2023, one of which may be because Valve wasn’t able to get enough footage. Team Spirit’s carry, Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk, also made comments on stream of a similar nature: ‘There will be no True Sight, guys. The developers stopped filming it. The last one was about us at TI10. Tundra Esports had no True Sight.’
What is True Sight?
In case you didn’t know, True Sight is a documentary film following the path of winners of The International. Since it includes the highs and lows, the community learns more about everything going on behind the scenes and in the lead up to the competition. Sadly, the fact the film will no longer be available for future iterations is likely to frustrate the Dota 2 community even further.
We hope Valve will take some kind of action and allow us to access something new in its place. Considering the growing popularity of other games and genres, Dota 2 needs to step up its game and bring more options to the community. The fact there won’t be a DPC in 2024 is more concerning news, we’re yet to see how Valve intends to support third party tournaments next year.
