A few minutes before the beginning of the International 2025 Grand Final, Gaben made an important announcement. It seems that The International 2026 will take place in Shanghai, China.

The fact that The International 2026 is going back to China is not a surprise for most people. It’s been a while since we’ve seen TI 2026 in China because the last time the tournament was there was in 2019. This was when OG won their 2nd TI after defeating Team Liquid in the Grand Final.
There were some rumours that TI will return to the US because the last time we saw it there was in 2023. Fortunately, Valve decided that it wanted to focus on other parts of the world.
Some people from the Dota 2 community were hoping to see TI 2026 in South America. Countries like Brazil definitely have what it takes to host it, so we wouldn’t be surprised if we saw it happen in the future. For now, however, we will have to watch the tournament in Shanghai.
Currently, TI 2025 is in Hamburg, Germany, the country where it all began. Speaking of the event, the Grand Final put together Team Falcons vs Xtreme Gaming, and we can’t wait to see what’s going to happen.
